Culturally the Japanese are known to provide top grade service, it certainly shows in Okura. When I am greeted at events or work, I usually know it's part of the routine. But the staff in this hotel seem to show genuine like and interest towards me, and I felt good about it as part of my stay experience. I never... More

From reading other people's reviews this place should have been amazing. In truth we did not try the restaurants so can not comment here. We choose this hotel as it had a spa and pool. Didn't realise it was €15 extra each per day to use the facilities. We only wanted to have a quick swim or 1/2 hr exercise... More

Hotel Okura is a five star hotel for good reason. The service is impeccable and they take care of all the small details. Upon entering the room, you are greeted with pleasant music and the bed is incredibly comfortable. The rooms are spacious and well-decorated and the location of the hotel is convenient, with easy access to transit and within... More

Beautiful 5 star hotel about 1.5 miles from central Amsterdam in the De Pijp area. We were upgraded to a spacious corner room which was delightful. Typical Japanese attention to detail with the beds turned down in the evening and even a "good night" mat and slippers laid out next to the bed each night. Had a fantastic shiatsu massage... More

This elegant hotel offers the subtle decor one associates with Japanese design, with extremely friendly staff from the top man to the bellboy. With 4 restaurants having more Michelin stars than I've ever seen in one hotel. The bar on the 23rd floor offers amazing views of the surrounding area.

Where do I start as you walk into this hotel the decor is of a sophisticated and high class manner. Once we reached our room once again we was blown away by the high level of attention to detail and the size of the room which was huge for a two bed room. Also WiFi was easy enough to connect... The hotel is walking distance to the Rijkmuseum, Van Gogh Museum and the Heineken Experience. A lovely park is a short walk away, too. Our corner room with windows on two sides overlooked the canal. We enjoyed our room, the gift shop, and the amazing restaurants. These one might expect in a high end hotel. But when my husband and... More

We all enjoyed our stay. All the staff we met were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We had a Junior suite on the 16th floor with a view over the Amstelkanaal. Room was was clean and comfortable including complimentary slippers and bath-robes Buffet style breakfast was included in our package and we thought it was very good, plenty... More

This is one of the best hotels from a service standpoint that I've stayed at, and this coming from a very frequent, hotel snob. No surprise, it is a deluxe-class Japanese-run hotel which makes service (and cleanness) a top priority. Upon arriving after a long flight from Washington, DC, despite the early check-in time, I was accommodated with a great... More

We stayed there about a week ago. The hotel itself is beautiful & with beautiful surrounds. The room was nice & clean with a good view. The bathroom was especially nice, with separate shower & bath. The staff were lovely & there were even staff to open & close the taxi doors for us. We didn't use the hotel's restaurant,... More

Staying in De Pijp

Neighborhood Profile
De Pijp
Bustling Albert Cuypstraat serves as the main drag through De Pijp and the location for Albert Cuyp Market, the largest and most famous of Amsterdam’s many outdoor markets. Beyond this sometimes-frantic thoroughfare, tiny lanes beckon urban explorers in search of the latest trends and hidden gems. Nearly half the residents living in De Pijp are foreigners and a good number of them are students. Here you'll find a multitude of ethnic restaurants, great cafes and bars, and a brilliant array of locally owned shops, all catering to a broad range of budgets and tastes.
