Although I had made a reservation at the Novotel Amsterdam City hotel, due to renovation works they changed it for me to the Mercure. It is a modern, tall building located a bit far away from the city center, near the metro station Overamstel. The reception area, although not so big, it is nicely decorated. The staff was very helpful... more

Very modern decor throughout and clean rooms, loved the art on the doors! The bathroom area was modern and quite trendy. We had a very comfortable stay. more

Our Room was quite big, confortable but toilet was a little let down. The location is not very good. The hotel is in the outskirts of the Town and you'll miss all the action. To reach the Centre you have to either walk about 15 minutes to the nearest tram (25) for a 20 minute ride or walk 10 minutes... more

We had booked a room for 2 adults and 2 small children, but they gave us a room just spacy enough for 1 adult. And although they have a huge number of rooms, and bigger ones, they didn't change it for another one in spite of our complaints Shower was nice though and about as big as the rest of... more

Very good value at this newly renovated hotel. The rooms were small (no problem for me), but very nice and very clean. Great shower as well. All in all, one of the better value hotels you can find in Amsterdam. The only drawback is it's location: it's not in the city centre, so you have to take the metro to... more

Very clean, spacy room, friendly staff, good restaurant serving reasonally-priced nice food (hadn't expected I'd be able to enjoy that good ham steak there!). A bit far from both metro and tram stations (probably 10-15 mins walk), which might make you feel a bit more tired after walking around sightseeing. Sometimes heard a strange small noise at our room at... more

My family and I stayed at the hotel for 1 night in February 2009. The deal was excellent and our 14 year old child was free. The bedroom was very big and the teenage child had a double bed (settee/bed). Other comments say that this hotel is a long way from the centre of Amsterdam. It is 7 stops from... more

This was our first hotel on tour and it was a very pleasant place to stay. A little out of the city but no real problems there. The rooms were very comfortable and quiet, the staff friendly and the breakfast buffet was excellent. The only downside was our failure to receive the early morning call which we had organised, made... more

Having previously stayed in a more central hotel in amsterdam, we seeked something similar. however hotels were booked and we had to settle for the mercure amstel. It is was more than 1km to the centre, it is 1km from the centre of Amstel. However as a party of 8, we flagged down 2 taxis and the price was 20euros.... more

This is a great hotel. Me and my boyfriend went to a backpack trip through Europe and being at a four stars hotel was very fine. The location is not really a problem...the metro station is only 10-minute walking far. I bet we could never find such a good hotel for the same prices in downtown. The staff is very... more
