I stayed at the Renaissance two days this week and one night in January. For me, the price was OK with free internet due to a corporate agreement. One big negative was I came home twice with red bites. The first time I thought maybe the red marks were hives or a food reaction, but after a second time, I... More

Stayed here for a long weekend, booked through booking.com so we got a fairly good deal which included breakfast both days. Brilliant location 5-10 min walk to central train station and within easy walking distance of most attractions. When we arrived it was tipping down with rain so made our way to hotel even though we were to early to book... More

I have stayed here 3 times this month and love the location. The hotel appears to be recently renovated and is nicer than the Marriott. I highly recommend it if you get a good room. Generally, the service is very good, although the breakfast service definitely varies depending on how busy they are. At the peak, everyone is running around... More

On our stay at the Renaissance, we were using Amsterdam as a base for trips out to towns and cities in the area. We chose the hotel partly for this reason as it is within easy walking distance of Central Station. The location generally is good, roughly mid way between the station and Dam Square, with shops, nightlife and other... More

We spent New Years in Amsterdam and found this gem on the tripadvisor website. The price was incredibly reasonable for a five star hotel. Just a quick walk from the train station and equidistant to the center of town. The room was very spacious with an amazingly comfortable bed, but not much of a view. The concierge was very helpful... This hotel is located very close to the train station and just about everything else. I had purchased a GVB (public) transit card for the duration of my stay but ended up using it only twice as most things are under a mile from the hotel. In regard to amenities, the hotel offers coffees and teas in the morning (at... More

I and my boyfriend decided to visit Amsterdam to celebrate New Year’s Eve. After reading the reviews on here, we decided to book this hotel. It was brilliant! The hotel is lovely, we had a deluxe room, large flat screen TV, arm chairs, queen sized bed and bed side tables, as well as a desk and chest of draws. There... More

Stayed in the hotel for two nights, very comfy, modern rooms, if a bit low ceiling. Location is great, short walk to pretty much all attractions and Central Station. Hotel staff is very friendly, great concierge at the lobby giving advice on shopping and restaurants. Lots of cosy places nearby, try Kobalt cafe, away from backpacking crowd.

My wife and I stayed at The renaissance Hotel Amsterdam over the Christmas period 2010 and we both thought it was superb. Our room was modern, bright, spotlessly clean and the bed was luxuriously comfortable. The room had a big flat screen TV to watch with films, internet access and CDs (jazz, rock, classical etc.) to listen to on demand... More

Staying in Centrum

Neighborhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
