Having stayed here before and been very impressed we were a little disappointed with the cleanliness of our room. Someone had obviously been smoking in our room as we could smell smoke. Also there was food left in the drawers by a previous guest. This was cleaned away when I brought it to the attention of the hotel. That said... More

We stayed at the Renaissance on our 2 night trip to Amsterdam. We booked the family room which had 2 double beds and a great size, though beds small. The room was modern although the bathroom only had a shower over the bath, but adequate. Great hairdryer which is rare in hotels was a plus. The staff were very helpful... More

I stayed here for three nights. We had two rooms that were right next door, but they didn't connect which was kind of disappointing. Although the rooms were nice and very clean and freshly updated, they were small, but that is how most hotels in Europe are. The bathrooms were gorgeous and modern, but they only had a walk-in shower,... More

On a one night lay over in the city, the desk and concierge gave some of the most helpful advice in tourism, running routes, and laundry services I've experienced in recent travels. The room was small but efficient; the bed was very comfortable. Minimal noise isolation if you're trying to sleep in, though. Cleaning in a neighboring room is guaranteed... More

Spent three nights and lived the experience. The rooms were clean with soft sheets and feather pillows. Elevators were fast, staff friendly and nice executive lounge. The restaurant has outdoor and indoor seating and the menu had a great variety. I will go back again!!

We stayed in the renaissance for 3 nights. There was no view from the window, just looked out at the opposite side of the hotel. The bathroom was tiny, room for one person at a time. No bath, only a shower but it was a good shower. Basic, town centre hotel.

Positives: very clean, great location and comfortable beds Negatives: 100% not 5 star, more like a good 4 star and I've stay in better 3 stars. No free wifi which in this day and age at this hotels prices is a joke. Parking is €7 an hour.... An hour!!! While very much ok this hotel is a bit of a shame.... More

This hotel is on a quiet side street in walking distance to many shops, restaurants, bars, canal cruises, tours and public transportation. Our family loved it. There were nearby mini marts for purchasing forgotten items (adaptors, corkscrew) and an open air set of restaurants for happy hour or outside dining (all meals, including breakfasts). The older kids enjoyed the nearby... More

We were pleased with this hotel all in all except for a few things that were amiss that I will mention later. When we arrived from our overnight flight, we were able to walk from the train station (although this was not easy--had to ask for directions). Our room was ready, including a fold out couch for our daughter--and we... More

First visit to Amsterdam with my wife. Great location - 5-10 minute walk to/from train station. Tram is 5 minutes away. Restaurants are also close. We had fantastic directions and support from Ismael at the Navigator Desk. He was a superstar with directions, tickets, and he even loaned us a charger to use during the first day as my iPhone... Staying in Centrum

Neighborhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
