We stayed here as part of our Viking River Cruise and we thought that Viking made a good choice. The hotel is located within easy walking distance of the Centraal Station where one can find trains, trams, and canal boats. It is also near several restaurants and, if one wants to get in ones steps for the day, the Rijksmuseum... More

I just read other reviews and didn't have any of those problems. We did have to wait until 4:30pm to check in. But, we request a feather free room. The room was clean, spacious, and the A/C was fabulous. The staff is very friendly and outgoing that I wish I could remember everyone's names, but, they were all GREAT! Even... More

I said at the Renaissance for a couple days to see some friends, I arrived at 9 AM and the they went out of their way to find me a room even though they could have said check-in time is 14:00. The service was great and the concierges gave me all the information I needed. Also it is only a... More

Located in heart of city 10 min walk to train station and about 20-30 mins from airport ( suggest a train vs cab as they are very expensive , no meter ) . Rooms were a little small compared to some of the other Renaissances we stayed at during trip however was not a big deal as we were not... More

Impressive hotel as soon as you walk into reception area, very polite and helpful staff. I lost my glasses in the lobby area and although it took 2 days for it to have been found and arrive at the customer service desk i was well informed by email and are now on there way in the post to me. It... More

Beautiful hotel, great location, simply let down by archaic procedure, 5 star hotels should not be charging €30 per day for Internet access, a small detail some may argue, however €90 for 3 days wifi is scandalous...staff in the bar area were very attentive, the bar itself was very nice, the guest service desk was pretty much useless, 2 requests... I'm tossed up between giving this place 3 or 4 stars.....it's a nice enough place, and you can't beat the convenient location (particularly if you arrive by rail), but the hotel itself is....well....just ok. My King bed room was a little on the smallish side, and faced on a pretty busy street. We were on the 2nd floor, and noise... More

The hotel is nice and walkable from the train station but be sure to get directions as it is not visible from station. They upgraded me due to my platinum status and I had a nice room. However when checking in, I was told that I could take anything I wanted from the mini bar free of charge. They do... More

We stayed here as part of a Viking River cruise. Located in a quiet part of the city and within walking distance to many of the places you'd want to visit. The room was very comfortable, the breakfast was great and the staff very pleasant. Free Wifi but the connection was better in the lobby than the room. The bar... More

Our room was quite nice and quiet, in spite of being close to a lot of activities. No more than a five minute walk from Centraal Station made it easy to get to from Schipol Airport by train. The staff were pleasant and accommodating, helping us out when our plug adapter didn't fit the recessed power socket. We could easily... More

Staying in Centrum

Neighborhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
