I will definitely book to stay here again when I revisit Amsterdam. I was very pleasantly surprised at the standard of the hotel, considering the low price I paid. I was a bit nervous because of some of the reviews I read (after I had booked), however, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, had a beautiful room and the staff were... More

So they said that our operator had made a mistake on our checkout time and they refused to honour it. They put us in room 314 and the smell was horrific. It smelt like sick. We complained and was told there was no other room. They come and sprayed some kind of spray on the carpet which just made it... More

I spent 10 nights at the Hotel Memphis and had a great stay. The hotel is fairly basic but clean, quiet and safe. There is a coffee maker in the room with free coffee and tea - a definite plus! The front desk team is very helpful, and the location is wonderful. The neighborhood has lovely shops, restaurants, and grocery... More

Hotel is very tired. Can't believe it can hold a 4 star rating. Carpets very dusty causing me to cough. Breakfast poor ... Bad English no fresh fruit. Flower boxes neglected, toilet tops glued, carpets stained.poor bathroom toiletries. Staff not unpleasant but I would suggest there are way better places to stay. Great location but would rate this a mediocre... More

Good quality hotel within 15-20 minutes of city centre. Room was clean and the beds were good, forget the breakfast for 15 Euro you can get much better in the city. Hotel reception were very helpful and booked our taxi for return to airport and were able to give us tips for local dining.

Got here Monday afternoon and had to wait 15+ minutes to check in as only 1 person on reception. Room ok but nowhere near 4* more like 2*. Currently staying in room 201. Wanted lie in this morning but rudely awoken by banging drilling and sawing from room above from 9am. Went up to complain to be told by one... More

Another hotel that just gives itself whatever star rating it feels like. My rating accurately depicts it's star value. I don't know where or when they took the photos they show you here on the TripAdvisor sight but it's not how things actually look. Furniture is getting old and worn out. It has this 70's 4 star hotel feel to... More

This hotel has had mixed reviews, however we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Granted the 4-star rating does not maybe hold up against other 4-star hotels we have stayed at in other countries, but the room was clean, quiet (even overlooking the main road) and accessible for various tram and bus stops. Tram 16 is 5 mins walk and takes you... More

The hotel was not super close to transportation, but still less than a fifteen minute walk, but other than that we had a great stay. The staff was very helpful, rooms were moderately furnished and a good value. We arrived early in the day and were able to store our bags which was very helpful. We stores them again on... More

Nice spot close to Amsterdam city centre and museums. Very easy to catch the tram straight into Amsterdam. Quiet room, comfortable. No English TV. The bathroom was ok. If you want somewhere cheap then this is certainly suitable. I will probably try somewhere different next time, but it was great for a first visit to Amsterdam.

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
