This place is clean, roomy and a great location. Staff was friendly, the breakfast was very good and we sat overlooking the canal while eating. There is also an elevator (lift). While it is true that this place Is undergoing renovations, the only issue for us was that we could not look out the window because of the facade they... More

Great location, but the rooms are terribly old and need a huge rebuild to meet normal standards. Internet is also poor and all in all it was not a pleasant experience. Will never book that hotel again

This is not a hotel, this is a building site. Nothing is like the pictures on Booking.com and we had no idea about the condition on the hotel, when we booked it. On room was a high noise from the ongoing renovation work. A work with sledgehammer was so close to our room that it was impossible to talk together.... More

The hotel is fine. It has an excellent location. The rooms are spacious and the bathroom is very comfortable. However it is a very old hotel and for me it seems more of a 3 star than 4 star hotel, so it feels a bit over price. They are remodiling it so i hope this helps. They are working in... More

The Good Nice location, close to some very nice bars and some nice looking canals. The main squares, museums and the red light district are a few minutes away. The building itself is interesting and gives some odd shape rooms to make a change to those identikit hotels. The Bad NH stated that parking was on site but it is... More

We order room for 3person we got bed that even in 1 star hotel don't use, there wasn't air conditioner , room is very small . We make reservation with nh web site and they didn't mention that they make renovation while we stayin, only when we complains about it they give us 25% discount.

The hotel was so beautiful, but a little bit shabby. Room was clean and the view was fine. Breakfast was worth the price. Service was excellent. Everyone was very friendly. Special thanks to Brenda and Richard!

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in May 2015. This place is tired. Very tired. In fact, it is under major remodeling and half the rooms are closed. Too bad the hotel did not advise when I made the reservations. The room I booked as advertised as "Canal View". That was true, but what was not stated was the... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
