We did not opt to up-grade to one of the "star" rooms, which was 20 Euro's extra per night. The standard rooms were smoking only, which was difficult for us during our 4-night stay as we are non-smokers. We needed to keep the windows open with a fan in the window to get some fresh air into the room. This... More

Stayed here for two nights on a short break with 10 other male friends. Make what you will of the other reviews here. Nowhere to unpack your suitcase? I always go for the bed, most are even bigger than my suitcase, thus making them useful for unpacking. Perfect! Dodgy part of town? This is central Amsterdam. I never felt unsafe... More

We were only here for one night and that was about the most time you could comfortably stay here for. The room was very small and if we would have had suitcases I do not see that we could have unpacked them. Apart from that it was clean but a little noisy at night - but that is to be... More

I stayed in the Tulip Inn hotel (formerly Ramada hotel) for a few days while doing a shopping spree. Although the hotel was bought by another hotel chain it is obvious that the hotel had no major refurbishment done to it. I found the staff friendly and helpfull as always and if I had wanted to do any excursions they... More

Perfect location as it was only a 5 minute stroll from Central Station and the same into Dam Square. Rooms were excellent with a nice modern contemporary feel and very clean. However, our room was slightly on the small size. Will be staying here on my next trip to the dam.

I have just returned from a long weekend break at the above hotel with a group of 9 friends and family. We didn't mind that it was not in the center of Amsterstam or that it was a 15 minute walk to the Metro or that the rooms were not really up to the mark but what I do feel... More

This hotel should have a 1-2 star rating. My cousin and I stayed there March 15-March 18, 2008. We booked a star/twin room. It was so small we could not unpack our belongings. It offered zero drawer(s) space. The "closet" was a narrow, open space in the wall, as you come in the room about 3 feet tall and 1-1/2... More

We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights and found it to be a great hotel. The room was small but it had everything we needed. The rooms are spotless and cleaned every day. The rooms can be cleaned up to 12.30pm which was very handy when we decided to have a lie in! All of the staff are friendly... More

Staying in Centrum

Neighborhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
