We stayed in this hotel quite a few years ago and the location if great. It was 3 * hotel before and now been awarded a 4*. Rather surprised but quite disappointed with the home keeping services. Our booking was not found but reception staff was good. We were rather disappointed with the housekeeping services. We were not given enough... More

We stayed at The Carlton over the bank holiday weekend. Wanted somewhere with a close location to the city centre which it does...but the quality of the room was awful...they didn't clean over 3 nights....the floor was dirty when we arrived, also I booked through booking.com....out on the notes I would like a bottle of champagne on arrival in the... The place was said to be four star hotel, but it felt more like a hotel which has been great in the 80s. Room smelled smoking, bad lighting (common in NH hotels?), slow wifi. On the other hand bed was really nice and firm. If you happen to wake up to noise easily, you should avoid the place: The window... More

My partner booked this for my 30th. The room was very dated, dirty carpet and smelled terrible. However, after a few other issues, the staff upgraded us to a beautiful room. Never made a complaint before but I'm glad we did. Staff were fantastic, work hard and extremely proactive to get any issues resolved.

This hotel is not even close to a four star property. Perhaps in the nineties when it opened but it is a filthy embarrassment for the chain and quite frankly for Amsterdam. The dirtiest carpet I have seen anywhere, so much so I only wore shoes in my room. Not one square metre of carpet or wall for that matter... More

A most unrewarding stay at this central hotel. I booked last minute so wasn't expecting a great deal but the hard bed, the dark dingy and tired room plus the unhelpful reception staff (on night shift ... the day shift were helpful) made for a very forgettable stay.

After making a very late booking due to an urgent business meeting I was pleased to find the NH Carlton available. My mistake was in accepting a superior room due to my lateness in reserving. I received a room on the top floor which was in a serious need of refurbishment. Cigarette burns on the bath tub, no ironing board... More

The hotel itself is very comfortable, although it does look like maybe it is time to do upgrades. The rooms are very decent, nice comfortable beds, well laid out furniture, big TV etc. Bathrooms are dated. However the location is perfect. Right by Rembrantplein, you have great restaurants, bars/clubs, not far from Liedersplein. All things considered vey good hotel.
