Isn't a fantastic hostel, wouldn't recommend it. Weird smell in the bathroom and the toilet didn't flush properly. There was one socket for the whole dorm, wires and sockets hanging out the wall, radiator wasn't properly attached to the wall. Rooms where really stuffy and you couldn't turn down the radiator. Stairs are narrow and awkward. There wasn't any information... More

Enough facilities to sleep and to cook, wifi available. The staff are very good. The room with 24 beds is sometimes noisy and sometimed humide but generally fine to just sleep. Centre reachable by tram or 15 minuted walking. Strictly the minimum.

This was the worst stay ever in Amsterdam and i've been in a few hostels there. Most unfriendly manager i met with zero respect for the costumer. If you wanne be treated like the animals who live there a few meters away from there you should go there otherwise i advice you to got somewhere else where it's cheaper and... More

Nice hostel, low prices, to enjoy the city around. It was clean and there is alwaus someone at the entrance for our safety. We had a room of 24 beds, but at maximum the half was occupied by saturday night.

We booked this hostel as a budget 'place to lay our heads' whilst in Amsterdam. As a result of the cheap prices I was not expecting much....however I got so much less than expected. Upon arriving we were greeted by a lovely woman, who seemed very professional and chatty. She told us that our room wasn't ready and we should... More

As a solo female traveller i found the female dormitory room a great idea to sleep and move freely around. The setting allows you to meet other travelers and possibly start seeing the city together. Lots of things to see and explore then going back to an easy relaxed part of town. Friendly owners, clean hostel, wifi in all rooms.

Our room was shabby with only one 'wet room' (a non-enclosed shower with a toilet and sink meaning the whole bathroom was soaking wet at all times) to share between 12 people... I think there is a newly renovated room downstairs which looked far nicer than ours, annoying that they probably paid the same price and got a far superior... More

Had to find a hostel on short notice and stayed here for a night. It's rather cramped in the large room on the group floor that I stayed in. Was glad to be staying for only the night, but glad that I had a place to rest my head. Staff appeared to be friendly, and the location is quite central... More

Quiet and nice place! Nice people and the big room for girls it was great. Very new hostel and all well clean. The kitchen was also new and it has a very good location. Near everywhere walking. Also they have a rental bike service, so they give u some facilities.

A nice family run hostel in a reasonably good location. The rooms were very compact and really hot. The shower and bathroom were clean. There wasn't enough lockers so bags had to be just left in the room, very trusting. The kitchen was nice but no separate common area. The staff were great though. Bike hire is reasonably priced. Overall... More

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighborhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
