This hotel is not for everyone, the main thing here is that it depends which room you get, i only saw two rooms, the first one was very minimalistic and dark, with grey and heavy curtains all around the room on the second floor with windows facing to Damrak, i got it changed because the noise from the busy street was... I took my boyfriend to Amsterdam for his 25th birthday and booked us into Hotel The Exchange. When we arrived we were told we were in a rather plain room on the 6th floor to which i was dissapointed...however, the room couldnt have been nicer, especially as we were only staying for 2 nights. The room was ideal for 2.... More

My husband and I stayed at the exchange for 5 days. The staff was very helpful. The hotel was so unique and clean. We had such an amazing time in Amsterdam, and honestly our room and location of the hotel played major roles. Loved the exchange! Would recommend it to anyone! So close to everything! Literally a 5 to 10... More

Was really pleased with the central location of this Hotel. Was a 5min walsk from the train station and close to the tourist spots. I was able to get a tram to the RAI literally just up the street. Perfect. My room was No 320 and was done out in Red drapes and Moroccan style lights. All very in keeping... More

I've been at the Exchange in the end of August. Perfect location. We had a very tiny and small room. It was practically impossible to keep the luggage open... : - (.. but on the other end the room was clean, fresh and silent. I specifically asked for that. WE had a room on the 5th floor and we also... More

Very small rooms The hotel should have a bigger sign because is very easy not to see the entrance Did not like the furniture Although, rooms are new, very clean and a comfortable bed Location is very good The problem is that it is very expensive regarding price-quality relation

Let me preface this review by saying that my wife and I have stayed in many small hotel rooms all over Europe. Also, having seen previous reviews of this hotel, my wife and I were prepared for a quirky experience at The Exchange. What we got was more than we expected. The good Excellent location close to train station, canal... More

Hotel location is excellent. Room so small that door could not fully open because it opened into the bed. No safe or fan in room. Frilly material all over walls in orange was my room's decor. Room and en suite spotlessly clean. Staff friendly when coming in and out of the hotel, however, it is a shame that the way the... More

My room was a 3* one with 2 windows opening to a brick wall and the roof of another building. It was like a dorm room with a double bed, an IKEA-like rack for hanging about 6 items of clothing and blue carpet on the walls and ceiling. There was a separate room for the bathroom and one for the... More

Hotel The Exchange is closer to a hostel than a hotel. It is very well-situated -- just a 5-minute walk from the train station -- and reasonably priced. But the rooms are weird, uncomfortable, and not suited for someone with a suitcase. I paid 50 Euros for early check-in but the 4 rooms they showed me were all drenched in... More

Staying in Centrum

Neighborhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
