This was one of the nicest apartments I've ever stayed in. As a single person traveling for work, I tend to be little picky but the Amphora exceeded expectations! The host, Greet, was a delight and it was so nice knowing they were nearby if I needed anything. The apartment was spotless and beautiful. The tile work is lovely and... More

What a wonderful stay we had at Amphora B&B. The thought behind the apartment and the little touches made our stay here all the more enjoyable. The location couldn't have been more perfect and neither could the hospitality that we received. The apartment was beautiful, we couldn't have asked for anything more. We will definitely be sure to return and... More

We’ve just come back home from a vacation to Europe, of which the time we spent in Amsterdam, six gorgeous nights were spent at Amphora. From the moment we walked into the apartment, we knew it was going to be an awesome stay. One half of the super hosts, Niels, was there to greet us and settle us in. We... More

We had a four night stay in late September. Apartment was well set up and had a very comfy bed. Generous breakfast provisions were provided and other delicious treats. I am very fussy with my coffee and the coffee machine produced a delicious cup. Location wise it was quiet yet central to all the attractions. The works outside didn't really... More

I think this is a great place in Amsterdam, but it was not without some issues. I am not allowing these issues to affect the review rating, since they were not the fault of the hotel, but I wish I would have known in advance. The City was doing heavy construction outside the front of the hotel (literally 6 inches... More

We have a son of 9 who was born in Amsterdam and this was his first trip back there. It was ideal in terms of size, location, amenities.... everything really. I couldn't recommend it highly enough if you are a couple or a small family. The accommodation consists of one lovely big room with a couple's bed at the far... More

We spend our summer holidays in this cosy location in Amsterdam. We means a family of 4. The Jordaan area is a great place to stay – its in the middle of the city and nevertheless a very relaxed and quiet area. If you decide not to walk to the several tourist attractions, you do reach 3 tram/bus stations within... More

We spent 3 nights in this very nice apartment in the Jordaan district of Amsterdam. (The owners live above) We walked the entire city, no problem from this location. The apartment is quite spacious, very nice bed and quiet in the evening (sleeping). There is a fine kitchen area and the coffee and tea selections were great! For breakfast Greet... More

This is our 3rd visit in a year and it feels like home from home. The convienience of being so close to gorgeous little cafes and shops and walking distance from all the main tourist spots. We had one stormy day and being able to have the facilities of an apartment instead of a hotel room was great. It's also... More

We stayed at Amphora for 3 nights late June 2015. Niels and Greet provided us with directions and it was an easy to locate via bus from airport and a 10 minute walk. The apartment itself is really good, with everything you need for a comfortable stay. They provided us with a breakfast pack for 2 days, wine and biscuits... More

Hi! I am sorry you felt akward about the workers (2) in front of the house, but I am glad you did notice they were friendly. We couldn't help this renovation. As I explained to you it was totally unexpected for us, we couldn't wait due to danger (safe now again!). And I wish you would have told me about... More

Staying in Jordaan

Neighborhood Profile
Jordaan
One of Amsterdam’s most preferred outdoor markets and some of the city’s favorite watering holes are but two of the many reasons to save ample time for a stroll through this especially convivial warren of narrow streets with its unfair share of quirky shops and quality galleries. Historically a haven for the working class and emigrants, these days the Jordaan is better known as an enclave for artists and designers. As popular as the Jordaan is as a destination for locals and out-of-towners alike, the area never feels particularly touristy or overrun with outsiders. A highlight even for long-time Jordaan residents, be sure to accept any invitation to step within one of the area’s beloved courtyards or to have a sneak peek inside one of its many working studios.
