Although having read the reviews of the Hotel Orfeo here at TripAdvisor, we were not completely put off and decided to book our two-night stay there. First and foremost for the money (the bed in a 4 share dorm was 28.99 euros plus visitor's tax), but also for its location next to Leidseplein. Although I have to admit that the... more

I would only recommend this hotel if you're ok with a bit of dirt and visiting Amsterdam with friends. Perfectly located for nightlife and another bonus is that all the food on the street seems to cost 5 Euros which is far cheaper than other parts of the city. more

The hotel is a typical tall, thin Dutch building, but the best bit about it was that we didn't actually stay inside the hotel itself. The manager ushered us to an apartment in a street about 100 meters from the main hotel. We had our own self-contained little apartment for the duration of our stay. We didn't have to keep... more

Poor excuse for a hostel. Crammed people into small, dirty, bug infested rooms. breakfast consisted of bread and orange juice. Free internet. more

I have stayed in some dodgy places before but this one took the cake. We booked on hostels.com for a fairly cheap price as it had decent reviews on another site, we were backpacking when the aussie dollar was worth about 40 euro cents and were aware that you generally have to pay through the nose for anything halfway liveable... more

The room we stayed in was very small but very clean. One bunk bed, a sink, a mirror and a tv. We stayed for 2-3 days. The toilet and shower are shared by the entire hostel but it was very clean and well kept. The staff was very nice and knowledgable about the area. Gave great recommendations for tourist attractions... more

Right in the middle of good restaurants, 2 minutes walk from shops on a main street, the location couldn't be any better! I'd recommend this hostel if you're on a budget, want to live nearby to the main sight seeing spots, and don't mind a not-so-clean bathroom/toilet. The room itself was a twin private room which was basic, reasonably clean.... more

The location is perfect! Very close to Van Gogh Museum and Tijkmuseum Museum (10 min walk) and to the city centre 5 min by tram (or 15-20 by walk). It is located in a nice area with a lot of restaurants and pubs. The stuff is not amazing, but if you chose a hostel you're not looking for 5 stars... more
