We were lucky enough to discover the Museum Suites before our first trip to Amsterdam. It is truly an excellent hotel, situated in a leafy wealthy area of the city; far enough away from the crowds to be a welcome breath of fresh air at the end of a busy day’s sightseeing, yet close enough to make all of Amsterdam's... This is the hotel to stay at if you visit Amsterdam. It is expensive by US standards, but for Amsterdam, the prices are bargains. I have stayed at Vermeer suite and I have only praise for it. Bed is terrific, the best sleep ever.

We had the pleasure of staying in this charming hotel for 3 nights in mid October. The owners Anna Marie and Frida are wonderful and cater to your every need and then some! The location was perfect, away from the crowds and yet right down the street from the Van Gogh and Riksmuseum. We also stayed in the Van Gogh... More

Perfect place to stay for a romantic getaway in Amsterdam. We spent 2 nights in the Van Gogh and keep as good a memory of the hotel as of the city. Room is truly as cosy, bright and lovely as it looks on the website. Service is warm and personal. Looking forward to go back!

I stayed in the Van Gogh suite. It was nicely decorated, bright and roomy, with a large balcony. Bed sheets looked new. The bathroom was large and luxurious. It was just 10 minutes walk away from the Van Gogh museum and very close to the park. Staff was very helpful. Bikes are available upon request. Next time in Amsterdam, I... More

A very nice place to stay. My Mondrian suite was just perfect, so bright and roomy, and, as everyone says, the staff was always helpful and cheerful, even by e-mail while booking. The location is very recommendable, so close to the beautiful Vondelpark... once you walk/bike across it you're right in the Oud-West (it worths a visit too) and then... More

We had a delightful stay in the Van Gogh Room two weeks ago. Lovely, convenient neighborhood and location, close to good restaurants and museums within a 5-10 minute walk. Sunny, beautiful room with excellent amenities and a balcony with chairs. Beautiful bath with luxury towels. Everything to make a relaxing, quiet visit and good rest. Would highly recommend.

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
