A fantastic stay... a grand madame of Amsterdam with large rooms, great service and a wonderful ambience. After landing from a long international flight, the hotel made us so comfortable and relaxed and the entire stay continued in this way. A very helpful concierge, friendly reception and a "nothing is too much trouble" attitude, was the norm...

great hotel/wonderful rooms/great location/but snooty receptionists, unhelpful , rude and dismissive. it is like having a great meal with dirty silverware, or driving a new Ferrari with non-functioning breaks.

I am currently staying at the hotel on my first of 2 nights stay in Amsterdam. I have to say that the quality of service at this hotel is amongst the best I have received. The decor within the room is stunning, and the hotel has real character. Will definitely return to the Amstel when I return to Amsterdam.

After going to 4 other intercontinental hotels in a 1 month period this one takes the cake! Some of the most courteous staff I've ever encountered! Their new bar and view of the canal is amazing. The location is in a quiet area but not far from anywhere. I'm a platinum ambassador and they made me feel like I was... More

This is a special InterContinental and much better than the rest - not just the physical property which the group is lucky to enjoy but also the management. Very good and flawless. We thoroughly enjoyed the location, concierge and staff interaction. Pity we were not here longer.

From the white gloved service to the indoor pool, exceptional linens and outstanding food and beverage this is one of my absolute favorite places in not just Amsterdam but in all of Europe. We totally loved our stay there! The hotel looks great, the staff was super friendly and the food was delicious as well. Their wellness area is so relaxing and has a really cool view on the water. It really was the perfect get away.

The hotel itself is very grand and beautiful and we were treated with very good service from the hospitality point of view from check-in and concierge services. Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighborhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
