The concierge was very friendly and helpful. The room was smallish, but since we were using Priority Points to pay for it I understand that. The decor was elegant and the bathroom fabulous, with a nice large soaking tub. The lobby area overlooking the canal is a great place for a morning coffee. Other than that, we went to the... More

Stayed here on points for 7 nights in April during a trip to the Netherlands. The hotel is not located in the center of Amsterdam, but honestly the city is so small that you have no trouble walking to almost all the places you want to go. There is a metro stop very close by, so getting to and from... More

I stayed here for a work conference in May. The hotel is in a quiet beautiful part of town. The rooms are very charming. My room was a little larger then run of the house rooms. Very spacious bathroom and comfortable bed. If I could afford this on my own, I would stay here again. The staff were very friendly... More

Recently returned to this hotel after 8 years. its still a grand place, but it is worn and needs some TLC to improve standards and justify the hefty price tag. There was no one to help with the luggage on arrival. My room was not ready. The entrance carpet was dirty, the chairs on either side on the entrance were... More

Though probably the best hotel in Amstrdam, visited by Royals and Movie stars, the Amstel Hotel remains friendly, yet correct and offers a warm athmosphere. Their main restaurant, la Rive, has several Michelin stars and it truely excellent! The Brasserie is small, cozy and seves as thebar as well. The serre is famous for it's high tea and is ideal... No wonder they call this hotel the best in the Netherlands. Wonderful service ( they had a free taxi service to okurahotel because their sauna/swimningpool was under restoration), great rooms with river views and a outrageous english breakfast to start the day with. You pay, but you enjoy.

Dear "Stan1245," It is always wonderful to read positive comments from our guests. Since not often local people post, we say a special thank you! Although we were happy to be able to offer a good alternative for our guests, we are very pleased that we are near finishing the renovation of our own Health & Fitness Club. Hopefully you... More

Dear "Ebdeervalley," Thank you for your comments. The city in Amsterdam encourages keeping cars out of the city center which indeed leads to high parking rates up to € 5.50 per hour. The hotel offers valet parking at the cost of € 65.- per day. Visitors to the city can also use the P+R (Park & Ride) car parks. Located... More

Old world luxury. The check in process was very personal versus stading behind a desk to check in. I definately appreciated the sit down check in. Rooms were large and relatively updated. In room amenities were pretty standard. Thankfully movies on demand was included as there were only a handful of English speaking channels on television. The only negative was... More

I spent a night at this hotel, which is on the banks of the river Amstel. I stayed in a luxury suite, which was very good - unusually for a European hotel it was very spacious. Service was excellent, facilities are very good and food is good. A good location from which to view the city and a good location... More

I stayed for 2 nights on a Friday and Saturday, the staff were very friendly and helpfull, nothing was too much trouble and I felt really looked after. The room was spacious, Clean and relaxing, just the little touches in the room made the stay even better.
