4 of us stayed here in July 2015 - we had a top floor apartment with 2 twin rooms, a shower room and a bathroom. The lounge/kitchen was open plan with all the amenities you need. A great place to stay being literally 100 yards from Dam Square, very helpful friendly staff. we paid £400 for 2 nights for the... More

Me and three friends stayed here while in Amsterdam for a busy 24 hours. Host was awesome and helpful, allowing us to check in straight away (a small miracle after 30+ hours in transit) and everything was perfect. Super close (walking distance) to loads of shops and attractions, the place was clean, comfy and easy to find. Highly recommend.

Holger is awesome! The location is great. The apartment was perfect. Lots of room, wifi, flat screen, and you can't beat the location. The best coffee shops all very close proximity. Good food in the area, and you can even grab a bike and go for a ride. Renees croissanterie is dangerously close!!!!

This apartment was in a very good, central location. About 10 mins brisk walk from Amsterdam Central station, near Dam Square, Oud Kerk, red light district and many restaurants. Check-in was at the bike rental shop downstairs. The owner was friendly and obliging. Bike rental is free if you are staying at the apartments. We took the top floor apartment... More

This apartment is in a very good location, only and short walk to Dam square, shopping area, Red light district and chinatown and etc. It is very centrally located. The owner is very nice. He helped us with our heavy luggage to the third floor. There are bakery, wok to go, and a very nice chips downstairs. I will definitely... More

We shared a 2 room apartment that had a living room and kitchen and were very pleased with our stay. The staff was extremely helpful, gave us tips for exploring the city, and they offered free laundry service. The B&B is located just a short walk to Dam Square and right next to a bakery which was convenient for breakfast... More

Three of us stayed in a two-bedroom apartment at the Old City Amsterdam B&B in June and couldn't have been more impressed with what we got for the price. Located within 2 minutes walk of Dam Square, the Old City B&B is very close to everything of interest and yet we noticed barely any noise at all whenever we were... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
