My husband and I have just spent 4 nights at this hotel. My husband was at a conference and I went for some r and r. I cannot say enough about the hosts Berry and Marcel. They were so helpful and suggested the most amazing places to visit and restaurants to eat at. Because I couldn't walk far they gave... More

When we phoned to say our flight would be delayed by at least 4 hours, we were told "yes, we checked on the internet and noticed you haven't taken off yet, relax, we'll expect you when you arrive". Similarly, when we left in a blizzard we were told if the flight was cancelled "just come back and we'll work something... More

We experienced a fabulous stay at the hotel. Nothing is to much for Berry and Marcel they greeted us and asked what we wanted to do then give us some fantastic advice for our visit. The hotel is fantastically presented and the small touches demonstrate a fantastic eye for detail. The hotel is situated at the center of the city... More

Due to bad weather, my flight scheduled to land at Amsterdam at 9pm, didn't land till midnight. Despite the fact that check-in was closed, Mauro's staff stayed up, and directed me to the location when i lost my way. They were extremely accomodating and helpful, giving great advice on getting around the next day. The room was very comfortable and... More

Cannot speak highly enough about this hotel. Was very easy to get to from Central Station, was greeted by owner @ front door upon arrival, rooms were clean and funky, breakfast was delicious and nutritious, very friendly and beautiful touches throughout. If you want to tour museums, buy tickets @ hotel as you bypass long queues. Great free fast WiFi... More

The room was splendid. Comfortable beds, spotless and minimalist chic. The owners were incredibly helpful, suggesting and booking restaurants, helping up with cases, special treats for breakfast... There is an honesty bar with reasonable prices. Really, you couldn't ask for anything more.

Stayed there Oct 31 - Nov 5. Agree with all other reviews - hotel location can't be beat- literally 5 minutes walk from train station, near Dam Square, Red Light. Hosts are incredible - great recommendations, knowledgeable, helpful - great suggestions for restaurants, etc. Rooms were clean, and very large for what you normally get in Europe. Welcome stocked minibar... More

Hotel staff are extremely friendly and helpful to me a solo traveller. Good recommendations for places to visit. Helpful in buying museum tickets at the hotel, saving time queuing! Deco are just great. Typical dutch style breakfast in a lovely breakfast room, with music playing. Great to start a day! On top of this is a little "surprise" to each... More

Having booked our first trip abroad as a couple, my girlfriend and I looked on Trip Advisor for a decent hotel to stay at in Amsterdam. Having read previous fantastic reviews, we decided to check it out for ourselves. We have to wholly agree that every good word said about the Mauro Mansion is 100% true. The location is ideal... Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
