The hotel is located very close to the train station and is a walking distance to all the major city attractions. The hotel service is pretty much terrible, the rooms are very outdated. But if you're young and need a place to crash and spend the night that doesn't totally looks like a homeless hostel this hotel will be the... More

Only due to staying in this hotel for 2 nights I'm on my final night thank god.. One of the worst hotels I've been to in my life: I wouldn't recommend this to anybody. Wifi keeps going off, dead loud staff always shouting, rooms are shocking. If your planning on staying in this hotel I would try and cancel it... More

Me and 10 others stayed here for a stag do and it was good for what we needed. There's no windows to the rooms but has air con so we wasn't too bothered. We was told a good few times to keep the noise down but that's expected in a hotel and from 4 rooms of guys.

Nice hotel, the reception was nice and freshly decorated but I think the rest of the hotel slightly let it down. Looking at other reviews I notice I wasn't the only person to suffer from bites but I tried to not let it interrupt my time in beautiful Amsterdam. The Irish bar next door was fantastic, delicious free breakfast each... More

This hotel is basic to say the least, and in need of a good spruce up. The bedroom was in the basement. However as we only stayed one night and was after somewhere very central (which it was) I put up with it. It wasn't as bad as some of the pictures on here suggested and the breakfast next-door was... My partner and I have recently returned from a 5 night visit to Amsterdam. We picked the Floris France hotel because of its central location, on arrival we weren't able to check into our room till 2pm which wasn't stated on the booking confirmation. When we finally checked into the room (101) it resembled a prison cell opposed to a... More

Just returned from a weekend in Amsterdam and stayed at the Floris France Hotel having read previous reviews thought we where going to be arriving in hell. We where checked in quickly and had to leave deposits for the rooms as it was 6 lads I am not surprised why they done this as they most probably worried about damage... More

The location of the hotel is great and just a 10 minute walk from Central Station. My friend and I stayed in a twin room (804) which is on the ground floor at the rear of the hotel and I was unimpressed with the tiny window that does not open and is at ceiling height. I later found out we... More

I was very worried reading reviews, but as long as you don't go budget rooms it's ok. We upgraded to standard rooms they were clean and new mattresses. (You get what you pay for.) Wooden floors so no dirty carpets, Staff very helpful. Don't take room in basement ok for stags. we were in rooms 404 &406 like the one... More

Didn't know what to expect after reading previous reviews. Would def recommend that you book standard or superior room if going to this hotel. Rooms basic but clean. Receptionist was very helpful. Breakfast at Molly Malones next door. Hot and cold buffet. Hotel ideally situated for walking to Dam Square etc. very central. Hotel wasn't as bad as previous reviews... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
