Just back from staying at De Vliegende Kok. Loved it! Alexandra is a relaxed and friendly hostess who makes you feel very welcome. The rooms are in the attic and share atoilet and shower room, both immaculate. I stayed in the cheaper Blue-Green Room which is at the back of the house, simply but tastefully furnished. If you can afford... more

Have to say that the location is really nice, on a channel with a nice view except for the noisy birds in the morning, but not too noisy. The room was large and cozy. Good breakfast and really friendly owners always ready for tips. Public transport really nearby. more

Stayed with De Vliegende Kok last weekend during the Amsterdam Marathon weekend. It is a small Bed & Breakfast hotel relatively close to the centre (5 minutes walking from the Amstel station which connect to train, metro, bus). They only have 2 rooms but that makes the personal service excellent. Great hospitality, the room was perfect with small details i.e.... more

Such a friendly and clean B&B in a nice area. It is located a little out of the center but its beautifull and verry quiet. To reach it by public transport is no problem and you have a little sightseeing tour for free that way;-) Both, bed and breakfast are very nice... Mhm! We enjoyed our trip to Amsterdam also... more

I had two nights in a spacious, clean, and comfortable room which didn't break the bank. It really is an excellent B&B, and Alexandra - the owner - was very helpful recommending good restaurants and transport options. more

I had a very pleasant stay at De Vliegende Kok, and I will certainly return if I get the opportunity. The rooms are fine (mine even had a view over the canal), the beds are really, really good and, once you get the hang of using the nearby tram line, the location is fine. As a guest you feel really... more

I LOVED this BnB. The location in my opinion was perfect--not too far from downtown, not too close to the loud and the crazy. The directions posted online made it very easy to travel from the Schipol Airport, to Amsterdam Centraal, then to the BnB, all on public transportation. The hosts met me early the morning of my arrival and... more

The accommodation was a bit hard to find with the one-way streets, but well worth the effort. Parking across from De Vliegende Kok along the canal with no guard rail and taking down bicycles right next to the edge provided quite a thrill. We particularly liked the great wooden breakfast table. I had chosen the top-floor bedroom, which was lovely... more
