Spent a total of 9 days in Amsterdam across 4 different hostels. I do not look for creature comforts and fully know what to expect from a budget hostel/hotel. Arrival and check in went smoothly but was told to come back in an hour due to the room not being ready. I was with 2 friends at the time and... More

Basic hotel, a 5min walk from Central station and 10min walk from the Red light district. Plenty of restaurants nearby. The rooms are basic and comfortable, wih just a wash basin in them, the showers and toilets are shared.

I was traveling with my best friend in November 2014. It was the cheapest double room in the centrum of Amsterdam which I have found on booking.com. It was the low cost city break for have fun and sightseeing in Amesterdam. Hotel is just aprox 10 minutes from Amsterdam Centraal and is very easy to get in. Very convenient location... More

Stayed 3 days at this hotel. I booked single room. On the first day they gave me a room in the attic, the room is big with en suite bathroom. On the 2nd and 3rd day, they gave me double room with sink. So I have to use shared bathroom. The bathroom is scale 2.5 from 5. Not so clean.... More

Please avoid staying in this hostel. Nothing good but the locaiton. The main station is pretty close (about 15 minutes walk), also is the Dam Square. Shared bathrooms aren't clean, rooms smelling cigarets, uncomfortable beds.

wonderful location , but what a stinkhole. Bedding doesn t get washed. Smells of cigarettes. The carpets and stairs have never been vacuumed. The staff are totally apathetic. Reminds me of the typical holeinthewall experience you find in India / Pakistan. Once the building has been purchased all work ceases. No maintainence at all.

Spent only 4 hours at this hotel after clubbing (had to check in at 11 am) and can't complain! Shared bathroom was clean. Walls are thin though (you can hear your neighbors very well if you know what I mean). Very close to the CS so don't need a taxi.

Staying in Centrum

Neighborhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
