During our last night there, through no fault of our own, the sink of the bathroom fell off the wall!! We immediately notified the owner and when he came to access the situation, he got extremely angry instead of being embarrassed and apologetic as I would have expected. He told us we had to pay for the repairs and when... More

First of all, the last night at the B&B our sink fell off the wall while I was brushing my teeth and the owner wanted us to pay over 350€ and threatened us to the point WE HAD TO CALL THE POLICE who came soon after to cool off the situation. We left the mad house with the police at... More

A room was booked for me here by my husband who ran into a passport hiccup in the airport on our way to Amsterdam (we did not know that a passport that expired within 3 months of your trip is no good.) So we had to cancel our day/overnight to Belgium and I flew to Amsterdam by myself to await... More

Don't bother hiring this apartment. The good points, location - that's it. The bad - the guy is a total cowboy. On arrival, they demanded 400 Euro deposit. In none of their emails or previous communication did they say that we would need this on arrival. We, a group of 5 adults, had no credit card with us, but offered... More

On arrival, owner showed us different accommodation in the same building to the one we booked. As it was bigger and more suitable to our party we had no issues. First impressions of the exterior of the building was not that appealing but once inside we were pleasantly surprised. The apartment was massive spread across 3 levels and a roof... More

May I start off by saying I've never written a review before, We recently took a trip to Amsterdam with some friends and stayed here in the top apartment, this included 3 floors with a roof terrace. Beautiful apartment. As soon as we arrived the owner wanted a £400 deposit which straight away put us on edge, and the apartment... More

Beautiful 17th century building with many original features and a lot of character (these include the VERY steep staircase that is mentioned in many reviews). My top floor studio had a lovely view on the canal and was very spacious. Private bathroom across the landing with no washbasin (had to use the sink in the kitchenette, which was Ok but... More

The location of this B&B is good, close to the central square, some museums, the port and Central Station and the circus that is the red light district. It overlooks a canal and that is nice. But we were give a suite on the 4th floor. Without elevators the only way up was what can only be generously called spiral... More

Big spacious rooms with really cheap uncomfortable foam beds. Not a private entrance you have to walk past the owners main kitchen. I did not get breakfast for both nights because I believe the owner did not want to cook it and he claimed he had a broken foot yet I never got a reduced rate. Perfect location for everthing... We were there for two nights during the week, and found the place in internet amongst many many choices. Comments from TripAdvisor helped us deciding. We were not disappointed ! A 100-year old typical Amsterdam wooden house in front of a canal, steep stairs of course, but extremely friendly staff. We got the "family suite" for 4 persons, it was... More

Staying in Centrum

Neighborhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
