After going through various options, I decided to go for this very reasonably priced hotel boat. The hosts were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The room (or cabin) was small and basic, but did it's job as a place to sleep, which was all I needed. The location was perfect, just a ten minute walk from the railway station. Breakfast... More

The room was tiny, with myself and 2 of my mates staying in it. I was on the top bunk! With it being a very cold weekend it was a nightmare for me in particular. My bed was soaked every morning due to the condensation on the walls. The showers and toilets are not very nice, the toilets are also... More

Terrible experience. Thought it would be a charming experience to stay on a canal boat in Amsterdam. What I wasn't expecting was a smelly, uncomfortable, unfriendly, unsanitary experience. The lady was a complete grouch and not very helpful. The below decks stank of faeces due to the toilet paper bins been full. There is no ladder to climb the top... More

The rooms in the barge are quite crammed but it was a cozy stay and the breakfast was amazing every morning. The barge was well located; close to the red light district but away from the busy crowds. The wifi signal was only available in the main reception and there are four showers and two toilets shared in the barge.

I stayed here over the new year with a friend, and whilst it's great to actually get your own room in a hostel, we had a very cramped room which had been well used. Not necessarily dirty, just aged. Breakfast was simple but nice, and you could buy drinks from the boat for a very cheap price. The WiFi was... More

Myself and my friend stayed here for four nights while we were in Amsterdam and although it was a novelty to stay on a house boat in Amsterdam, I wouldn't stay here again. It was quite expensive and I would probably get better value out of staying somewhere else for the same price. You are basically paying for the experience.... More

We stayed her for about 3 nights and had a wonderful time. The rooms are a little tight but still enough room for the 2 of us. Breakfast was great and the man who runs the boat is very friendly. It about 15 mins from city center and the train station but its a nice quite boat at night. We... More

Our stay at the Vita Nova Boatel was great, the price was unbeatable for Amsterdam, location is very good, short (15-20 mins) to the Station and the Red Light District, in a quiet dock right in front of the Nemo with its awesome open terraced roof (free entry closes 5pm). Bauke was very very helpful and friendly, he let us... More

We had booked two nights here, but sadly due to a train strike in Belgium, were unable to make the first night. When we did check in, we were expecting to have to pay for both nights anyway, but were offered 50% off of the first night. How generous! We got a private room with a shower and sink. The... More

A great hostel to spend a couple of nights at. Situated at a central location in Amsterdam, really quiet, clean and the beds are quite comfortable. The owners are really friendly and kind. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone!

Staying in Eastern Docklands (Oostelijk Havengebied)

Neighborhood Profile
Eastern Docklands (Oostelijk Havengebied)
A visit to Amsterdam’s Eastern Docklands presents the opportunity to marvel at its many modern architectural masterpieces like the Openbare Bibliotheek Amsterdam and the beguiling Python Bridge while taking in its scenic waterfront with its trendy assortment of cafés, restaurants, bars, and clubs. Here in this post-industrial (though in some parts still very much presently industrial) neighborhood, you’ll find a smart selection of cool galleries and shops as well as the kid-friendly Science Center NEMO and the National Maritime Museum.
