I have just returned from my first trip to Amsterdam with myself, my partner and another couple. I had a great holiday bar the accommodation. I did not stay in the hotel itself so I do not know what that is like, I stayed in one of the apartments. Firstly the good points, the accommodation is greatly located, we stayed... More

We stayed in the 1st floor apartment with 4 people. The location is superb, on one of the best streets for boutique shops and charming canals. The concierges at the front desk were very polite and helpful and even held our bags after checkout while awaiting our train departure. However, there were two downfalls to this apartment. The first, the... More

The location of the hotel, and the dedicated toilet for each room of the hotel are the main advantages, because most of the budget hotels in Amsterdam have a shared toilet for multiple rooms. The breakfast buffet is fair, and the staff was very helpful.

I think the last time this was redecorated was in the 1970s some time. It was clean, but the carpeted wall was a bit weird and the decor had seen better days. Be careful with the stairs leading to the apartment, they are very steep. Otherwise, it was a great location and fairly quiet. The beds were very small, especially... More

A 2 minute stroll from the main hotel, these apartments were ideally located in the heart of Amsterdam in one of their traditional buildings, meaning that it is narrow with very steep stairs. We only had one bag and were on the first floor, so it didn't cause us too much trouble, but the handrail is needed. Externally, the building... More

Loved the location as soon as we reached. Canal facing hotel close to Dam square(10 min).Getting bags to the second floor was only half the challenge! There was no place in the room for 2 bags. But the canal view from the room, great breakfast included, friendly staff, convenient location make it a great place to rest while exploring amsterdam.

Typical dutch apartment...good enough in order to spend some days enjoying Amsterdam city. The apartment has all the minimum facilities required . Its location (a few meters from DAM square) is ideal to visit any part of the center.

The apartment annex was comfortable and had all the necessary requirements. The room was basic. The beds were comfortable. It was central and we were able to walk everywhere. It was as advertised. Good value, nothing fancy.

Staying in Canal Ring (Grachtengordel)

Neighborhood Profile
Canal Ring (Grachtengordel)
This UNESCO World Heritage Site is as historically significant as it is perennially popular. Whether you’re a history buff, architecture enthusiast, shutterbug, or fashionista, odds are you’ll find the Amsterdam you're looking for while roaming around the Grachtengordel (Canal Ring). A brilliant place to get lost in a moody meander and a key component to any sightseeing trip to Amsterdam, this area's major draws include the Anne Frank House, the Bloemenmarkt floating flower market, an enviable assortment of independent boutiques along De Negen Straatjes, and of course all of Grachtengordel’s lovely canals and bridges.
