Although slightly tricky to find due to the parallel canals, the location is central and quiet - a great combination. The canal view room is huge, has a gorgeous view and is quirkily and beautifully decorated. Having a proper espresso machine is fantastic. The bathroom is down the hall, so not very convenient, but it's a good shower. The TV... More

We enjoyed our stay in the Family room at Amstel Canal Guest House tremendously. Ken was extremely kind and helpful. The guest house is located in a very quiet area with just pedestrians and bicycles, no cars. Within walking distance to almost everything. The family room was really spacious for our family of four. Ken suggested to contact him directly... More

We stayed for our anniversary, and had a perfect time! It was close enough to easily walk I to the centre, and out to vondelpark, but on a peaceful street by the canal. Room was warm, spacious and quiet. Coffee machine, tv, CD player, shower, everything worked brilliantly. Bed was comfy. We stayed in the cheapest room which only has... More

We stayed in November 2012. We decided to splurge on the deluxe room as it was a special occasion for us, and we don't regret it one bit! It was a super sized room with an amazing view. The bathroom was across the hall, which was unusual but didn't annoy us. Breakfast was simple but enough, though for the price... More

We stayed in the standard room with no view. It had a window which opened onto an internal courtyard which was tiny so the room was not bright. However it was spacious and exactly as described on the website. It is a little worn in places but it was clean and have everything we needed. The location was wonderful, right... More

It was ideally located, we pretty much walked to fifth ave, Grand Central, the Met etc etc. There was a subway close by as well. We went to the Highline and Greenwich Market, which was amazing and we highly recommend. We got tickets for the We stayed here a couple of nights in the family suite. It was more spacious... More

This is a little gem of a place nestled on the Amstel canal and in walking distance of all the attractions the city has to offer. Ken made us feel very welcome and although we stayed in the 'standard' room it felt like a little bit of luxury compared to what other hotels offer for the same price in the... More

They got the canal room which had am amzing view over the Amstel river, we had the family room which was huge and had a kitchen too. We arrived at 10.30 and met Ken, he allowed... More

had the room at the basement which is cheaper but without the nice view to the amstel. Friendly personnel, own kitchen and always basic food included! Location is a short walk from the central station and very close to the cities centre.

Who is the elusive Ken? Communications great beforehand, but no-where to be seen on arrival! Do not disturb the next door neighbours (where apparently Ken lives!) RED SHEETS, RED TOWELS, RED RUG!!! Unexplained dirty mark on bathroom cupboard door (next to wc - eeugh!)! Previous 'guests' soap left on top of shower (eeugh!!). Teeny, tiny shower room - squeezing past... More
