I think they are having an identity crisis. Don't expect a B and B unless the second B stands for basket - which I may add along with the phone number for the taxi that I needed to phone at 5 am wasn't delivered on our final morning. Really disappointing finish. The toilet seat in the black and white room... More

The B&B is in a very old house without elevator or a/c but with narrow winding wooden steps. It undoubtedly has character and atmosphere but not any more than that. You should not choose this b&b if you would like to see or talk to one of the staff or owners, if you like milk in your tea or coffee,... More

This B&B is in a great location and very central to all the sight seeing areas. The owners are friendly and accommodating. The room was ideal for the over night stay. There is a fridge, hair-dryer, TV and tea and Coffee facilities. Breakfast was served in a picnic basket that was left outside your door, this included, bread, jam. spreads,... More

We stayed in the white room at the back, neat, clean and comfortable with great shower. Breakfast was not spectacular, however there are so many great pastry shops in the area. This location is central to everything which is great for sight seeing. If you are looking for somewhere where you are free to come and go, left alone and... More

Just got back from staying here for the weekend and have to say it was so friendly. We stayed in the white room which was very cosy and clean and linen and towels changed each day. Breakfast was ok. Met by Eugenie on arrival and she was so friendly and Joost came to see if we were ok as my boyfriend... More

We stayed for 4 nights, but wish it had been less(nothing to do with rooms, I just did not like Amsterdam). The room is very basic, clean, ensuite is adequate but small. Breakfast is alright, but its the same every morning, which gets boring quickly. Good price for Amsterdam, only met Eugenie, she was very friendly & helpful. Overall, alright... More

We stayed here for two nights prior to a cruise departing Amsterdam. We stayed in the Black and White room at the back of the property which was spacious and quiet. The main problem was the very steep spiral staircase to get the room made it difficult to get luggage up. They explained that due to heritage limitations with the... More

We booked this room after seeing reviews on Trip Advisor. The price was incredibly reasonable compared with everywhere else in Amsterdam. The location was perfect for having a taste of the red light district without having to be fully submerged. I imagine that the rooms can be a little noisy at night on the weekends, but it wasn't an issue... More

Delightful stay in the white room, joost was a great host and gave lots of good recommendations! Breakfast was good- no fresh coffee though. The room had a great view onto the canal! Only downside- very close to the wild red light district!

We only stayed a night and hope we had stayed another night so we can see more of Amsterdam. The B&B is very conveniently located, which makes walking around the city, and catching a train out of Amsterdam Central very easy. It's just at the cusp of the Redlight district, so for 2 female travelers that was an eyeopener, but... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
