We had a great 3 nights here. Easy to find from the central train station. Located right in the city centre. Red light district is literally a 30 second walk away! Fast WIFI. Breakfast was great each morning and the staff were super friendly. We wouldn't stay anywhere else when we return to Amsterdam!

We stayed in Amsterdam from 1st to 4th May 2015. The b&b is exactly in the Red Light District, in front of one of the many canals in Amsterdam. The b&b is quite nice, very good for the position, 5 minutes walking from Dam Square and 10 minutes from Centraal Station. We stayed in the white room in the back... More

Fire safety is a big concern. No notices whatsoever and on 2nd floor with one wooden stair access. No toiletries was a bad start so had to go out immediately to buy hand soap, etc. Lots of little niggles that show attention not being paid to small items that can make a stay special - or even convenient. Location on... More

We stayed in The White Room for 2 days then moved into The Black Room for 1 night. The White room was in the front of the building and had double windows you could open and watch people mingling in the street below (very quiet when closed). The bed was a bit weird to climb on to (a bit like... More

We stayed two nights here in October. It was fairly easy to find using Googlemaps. We were able to check in earlier which was appreciated. The room was clean, fair-sized and comfortable enough for our stay. Location was ideal for exploring Amsterdam, literally right by the red light district which was initially a concern but wasn't a real issue once... More

B&B 1680 is a Family home and that is exactly how we felt....Like Family. Centrally located in the heart of the red light district but do not let this put you off. Its not a problem at all. Just turn right out of the hotel and you are in Dam Square in a matter of minutes. We stayed in the... More

We went with this B&B as it was a good price for the location. It was important to us to stay in the centre of Amsterdam and this was spot on for that, right on the edge of the Red Light District. Although it did take 4 calls to Dennis until we arrived successfully! Walking directions from Central Station would've... More

Stayed here for the weekend of ADE. Very hard to find the hotel as there is no sign on the door. Once found we left our bags as check in was not until 14:00. Room was fine for what we needed, but the bathroom was very small and the "double" bed was two singles pushed together. Comfy enough though. The... More

Location was great. We arrived very early and they allowed us to leave our luggage until check in time. Once we had checked in communication was poor - mainly through their intercom. White room faced out onto the street and was noisy. Breakfast was left outside the room the night before and was basic.

We stayed here for 4 nights, and paid a bit extra for the black and white room. I personally expected something quite exquisite I think, but I was a tad disappointed. It boasted a luxury bathroom, this was not the case in my opinion. It was basic, gloomy, and had leaking pipe work under the sink. It boasted too, a... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
