I had stumbled across a review of hostels in Amsterdam and the Backstage was one of them. It's nothing fancy, but what hostel is? The people at the front were super helpful, you can tell the people who work here and run it truly love music! Which is what I was hoping after reading about it. Tuesday is open mic... More

Me and my boyfriend stayed one night here, paying €100 for a 3 bed room. PROS: The view from the balcony was lovely, and the location was great, in a safe part of Amsterdam within easy walking distance from everything! The beds were nice, and the staff were so friendly. The overall feel of the hotel was very indie, for... More

This is a hotel for bands and music lovers. Great location, within walking distance of everything, including two great music venues. Awesome helpful staff. ROOMS- The room vary in size, and are all themed to look like a "backstage" dressing rooms. They have small bathrooms with showers. The top floor rooms have excellent views, however the stairs are steep, so... More

Backstage hotel stole our hearts With its large & clean rooms, friendly and helpful staff but most important, its quiet yet easy to reach location. You will feel yourself at home, chilling with your friends. No.1 place to stay in our AMS list.

Backstage hotel in Amsterdam is great. It has great service, good food, best location, along with a Rock&Roll theme and spirit. Everytime you enter your room from the outside of Amsterdam, the same spirit from the street goes with you. When you stay in Backstage hotel you truly feel like a star.

The staff were friendly, informative, spoke perfect English and looked after our case on the last day for us. The room was smart. It was a little bit tight around the bed, but had all the facilities you would expect. The theme of the hotel run right through all of it's facilities, from the drum kit light to the showbiz... Location- spot on. 2 mins walk to the Paradiso for gigs, and Leidesplein for bars. Really easy to find (when sober- bit of a challenge in the early hours) The rooms, and the bar have some cool touches, like drum stools, lighting rigs instead of lamps and a snare drum for the ceiling light. Feels very chilled out, the bar... More

A bit further away from the center than we had originally thought - but a nice, relatively clean and inexpensive hotel ideal for a night or two in Amsterdam. The staff is really warm and responsive. And the breakfast ... perfect.

Fantastic! Hotel was just what we needed and amply priced. Clean and tidy! We weren't awake in time for breakfast but the hotel itself is mreally close to a square with many bars/restaurants and cafe's with a burgerking and a cash point!

The backstage hotel is a very good hotel for those looking for a group holiday. Each room has its own bed and no sharing is needed. It was very clean but the bathrooms are very small and the stairs incredibly steep so are an issue for those with mobility problems. The staff are accommodating and the hotel bar has charm.

Staying in Jordaan

Neighborhood Profile
Jordaan
One of Amsterdam’s most preferred outdoor markets and some of the city’s favorite watering holes are but two of the many reasons to save ample time for a stroll through this especially convivial warren of narrow streets with its unfair share of quirky shops and quality galleries. Historically a haven for the working class and emigrants, these days the Jordaan is better known as an enclave for artists and designers. As popular as the Jordaan is as a destination for locals and out-of-towners alike, the area never feels particularly touristy or overrun with outsiders. A highlight even for long-time Jordaan residents, be sure to accept any invitation to step within one of the area’s beloved courtyards or to have a sneak peek inside one of its many working studios.
