My husband and I stayed here for three nights in April. From the moment we arrived, the man behind the desk sat down with us, offered us a free drink and chatted about what to see in the area plus told us useful information such as which trams passed by the hotel and which restaurants he recommended in the area.... We recently spent three nights at this hotel. As others have mentioned you're greeted with a welcome drink and a friendly chat about what to see and do. We had a room on the top floor at the front--it does look onto a busy street but the streetcar noise didn't bother us (they do provide ear plugs but I found... More

Very affordable, central to Amsterdam, easy to get to by tram. The staff was great, the breakfast was great, very nice touches all around (flowers, chocolates, fruit). Love the stairs - gave us a good workout to burn off all the Dutch delicacies.

Just had a great 3 day stay at this friendly, well located little hotel. The welcome on arrival was really good, free drink and introductory chat about what to see and do in Amsterdam. The room was fine, not palatial but perfectly clean and comfortable. We asked for a quiet room at the back which we got, rooms at the... More

A great welcome with a free drink. Hot drinks, fruit and water available free at all times. Our room had a lovely, spacious balcony overlooking courtyard. Cleanliness excellent with fruit and a chocolate on your pillow. Staff very helpful. Only downside may be the steep stairs for those who are not very mobile.

Hopped off the train , walked out to tram 13 and arrived right on the doorstep of the Alp. Reception girl was very friendly and knowledgeable on arrival. We were early so the room was not ready but allowed luggage to be stored whilst we went off exploring. Great location to Anne Frank , restaurants, supermarket and canal cruise. Walking... More

My aunt and I stayed here for 2 nights this week. Having read the mostly excellent reviews I was initially happy with my choice. I'll start with the good. An excellent location, it is very easy to hire bicycles on the same road and a few minutes ride into the centre, perfect for canal cycles and convenient for the tram... More

We stayed here Feb 17th - 20th. All good to report really. Excellent value for money. All the staff we came in contact with could not have been more friendly and helpfull. We had the Amstel room on the 1st floor. Just as expected: clean and comfortable with nice balcony overlooking courtyard. Apart from the odd rumble of the trams... More

A well situated hotel on tram and bus lines. Very friendly and helpful staff, coffee/tea available in the lobby and lots of fresh fruit. Excellent breakfast. The rooms are small and there is no lift and typical Amsterdam steep stairs, stay somewhere else if this is a problem. There is a lot of street noise, mostly trams, during the day but... More

We stayed here from December 22 through the 26th of 2013. It was a fantastic experience. First off, the staff was uniformly friendly and very helpful. The woman who greeted us even brought one of the suitcases up the stairs, even though I could have easily done it myself (and probably more easily than her!). Every time we came back... More
