Very busy hotel in the heart of Amsterdam, right on dam square. Quiet and soundproofed rooms. Big buffet breakfast and a very efficient reception and concierge. Easy check in and check out. Will definitely visit again.

The apartments are located just behind the Krasnapolsky Hotel (some of them can be also accessed through the hotel), facing the edge of the red light district. So the location is just perfect for a sightseeing walk. The apartments are very stylish, recently refurnished. We were staying in a smaller one - this had no bathtub only shower, but this... More

Stayed in Krasnapolsky for second time. Location is great, you can find all kind of nice restaurants and bars at the same area. Room was not so big but very clean and comfortable. If you stay in Krasnapolsky do not miss the beautiful brekfast in hotels winter garden.

We had a confortable permanence in an apartment of this hotel for 4 nights. The service was good, not that exceptional for a 5 stars, but we are very satisfied considering the price (note:we did not have breakfast included). The position was extremely fantastic since it is placed directly in front of the main square in Amsterdam: Dam square. Moreover... More

There is no better location in Amsterdam…the front doors of the Krasnapolsky are located right on Dam Square…the Dutch equivalent to the center of the world. On the back side of the hotel is a lively canal and the famed Red Light District. Although I've stayed in the hotel room section of the Kras a few times, I usually stay... More

My husband and I booked Hotel Krasnapolsky for my birthday weekend. When we arrived we were told that I was 'Guest of the Day' and therefore would be upgraded. We were given a wonderful apartment, chocolates, biscuits and a free complimentary drink. The service was excellent - free transport was arranged for our trip to a diamond factory. A birthday... A beautiful and nice hotel that is situated on central center of Amsterdam. It is also worth to you live choose a hotel in the middle of the city. It is worth avoiding transport etc. The staff was very service oriented and providing the best possible customer service. They were attentive, friendly and extra helpful. The breakfast buffet was impressive!... More

I stayed there with my sister as we went for a vacation there last November. The rooms were huge and had a lot of amenities. However the decor even though excellent for the architecture of the building was kind of gloomy and dark but I guess it was done so as to keep the original character of the building. The breakfast... This hotel is in a prime location, opposite the palace. Plenty of bars, restaurants, shops and sight seeing within the vicinity. Rooms were well equipped, tea/coffee facilities, hairdryer, robes and slippers and complimentary toiletries. We did not frequent the restaurant or breakfast room but the winter garden room where breakfast is served looked beautiful. Do read the history of the... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
