Located on the Dem square. Walking distance from everywhere in Amsterdam. We got an upgrade to an Excellent, fully equipped, 3 bed rooms apartment. The room service was outstanding, called them a couple of times and got what ever we needed at about 5 minutes! Great location, many coffee shops, pubs and restaurants in less then a minute range from... More

Just spent a long weekend with friends in a two bedroom apartment. Very comfortable, huge and well appointed. Also quiet, which considering the canal side location in the centre of the city was a nice trick. Very pleasant stay, and of course the legendary Krasnapolsky facilities and services thrown in as well. Note: the hotel is being re-furbished at the... More

Stayed here for business a couple of time now. Great modern rooms which are nice and big and right on dam square. Would definitely recommend for a nice central place in Amsterdam close to all action. Hotel staff really friendly and always eager to assist with anything

We chose the hotel because of its central location and that you can walk just about anywhere you want to get to. We were staying at the hotel for 4 nights and on arrival told we could have an upgrade to the apartments, owned by the hotel, and alongside the canal to the rear; it seemed like a good idea... More

Truly the best apartment-hotel option in Amsterdam Centrum. I love the location...right on a beautiful canal and a block from Dam Square. I've been staying at the Krasnapolsky Apartments a couple times a year for the past 15 years, and have stayed in about half of the apartments. While they all offer the same amenities in terms of: washer/dryer, well-equipped... More

I must say, Amsterdam by miles is the best place to visit. Lots going on. Great people. Fantastic night out and of course lots of coffee shops and red light for a boys. Hotel itself see in the heart if Dam Square just few minutes from the train station, close to all main attractions. Reception staff are very friendly and... More

I went with my wife and friends, we decided to stay in this apartments as it's very in the middle. The apartments was well maintained and you feel that you are still in a hotel with their room service. We stayed in the first floor which i recommend so you don't need to use the stairs. Next door is a... More

I have stayed at the Krasnapolsky Amsterdam Hotel for an entire week on july 2014. It was a great idea to stay there and doing wanderfull day trips so I could travel all around the Netherlands. Holland is a small and amazing country. So I choose to stay at the Krasnapolsky and it was just like wake up at home... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
