The hotel is perfectly located within the main shopping street yet quiet. Enjoyed the elevator experience. Sneeking through the hallway I found rooms with a coffee machine. Bit disappointed our room wasn't provided with a coffee machine. Bathroom is spacious but missing cupboards eg for own bathroom supplies.

I had stayed in Grand Hotel Alkmaar already last year and as it was a very positive experience this April when I again travelled to Alkmaar I decided to come back. Alas... on arriving to the hotel in the evening me and my colleague were told that there was no reservation, upon further checks it appeared that the reservation was... More

We came to Alkmaar to see the cheese market. We spent one night in this hotel and it was too much. The stuff was very unpleasant and the room was tiny located at the attic. The room was so small that the bathroom (was also very small) door could not be opened all the way, because the bed that occupied... More

The hotel was very clean and fairly modern. Our room was good, however, right at front of hotel and very noisy. No soap in bathroom so how do we wash our hands after using the toilet!!! Also advised kitchen closed at 9pm, at 8.10pm we requested some food and told kitchen was closed. Had to really stand our ground to... More

Booked really last minute, friendly reception, small room with no room to put away clothes, nice bathroom but when showering the toilet and got wet and the floor was soaked (no curtain) but the worse are the beds which are way to soft which killed my back!

Stayed three nights for couple get away in august. The weather was warm but as mentioned recently by several others there was no aircon. Never imagined a 4* design hotel wouldn't have ac. Just sweltered all night and even with two massive window open couldnt get cool, and then had noise to factor in, plus the mosquitoes had a field... More

Do not stay here in summer. I wouldn't anyway but summer is worse. Rooms look nice but design is actually poor. The bed is so soft i may as well have slept on a pile fo cushions so i slept very poorly. In hot weather the room was uncomfortably hot, and there is no air conditioning or fan available. I... More

High 20s and humid. No aircon in rooms. Window open. Eaten alive by mosquitos! Sweaty and tormented. Shame as great location and friendly staff. I would however visit again when not summer and had repellent with me. Be prepared.

Was put in a room facing the street and bar, realised this and asked to be moved, as I had stated on the booking, for a "quiet room"....was told they were "fully booked"...bar was very very noisy. (Was told by the chef, "if I didn't like the noise they would call the police and get the bar shut".....30 minutes to... More

We really enjoyed the hotel. Problem there is no parking . In summer on the weekend leave your windows closed. Lots of noise from all the people on the street. Breakfast is good and there is always enough.
