We just spent 2 nights at this hotel and we were really impressed. We'd got a fantastic deal on the hotel so our expectations weren't that high before we arrived. We were really taken by surprise how nice this hotel is. We were even more surprised to learn on check in that they upgraded us to a suite free of... More

Beautiful setting Windows can't open Toilet IN room with glass door Beds ok Clean. Very big room. Airco loud. Shower also glass door, water leaks on wooden floor in room. Breakfast: small area, not too much variation but good food. Market place at walking distance. Underground parking (expensive but safe).

I stayed one night which was so comfortable. Hotel location is awesome, so close to the square, has a lovely garden where you can chill with a drink. The most remarkable thing for this place is its helpful staff. Also I would like to inform about the breakfast that is qualified.

A very special atmosphere in an old historic building. Nice reception and always very helpful. Nice breakfast with a lot of local products. Because of my wifes birthday they offered a bottle prosecco.

I am glad to see that there is a demand for such a quaint and upscale hotel in Sittard. I travel here for business often and frequently resort to staying in nearby Maastricht. While Maastricht has more in the way of shopping, Sittard offers it's own quaint style and more local flair. Plus, you cannot beat the walk to the... More

I stayed at the Merici for two nights on business in January 2014. The staff were extremely helpful, my room on the ground floor was lovely with a great shower and modern furniture. The hotel has a great location for meals out in the market square and underground parking which is easily accessible. Will definitely be staying here again when... More

What a perfect place ! The historical building is recently perfectly refurbished and equipped with taste and modernism. The rooms are very very nice. The decoration is perfect (modern) and equipment (rain shower, coffee machine etc.) wonderful. The breakfast is very rich, the service is efficient. The hotel works with a restaurant at some 100 meters distance. We found the... More

Good bed and room but for the rest it is an 'empty' hotel, no restaurant, no fitness inside - there is a bar but no barkeeper; personnel is correct but not engaging. Compared to other similar priced hotels in Limburg it is a bit disappointing. Breakfast is ok.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hotel Merici Sittard is an unusual accommodation, as the 4* hotel is established in a beautifully renovated cloister in the beating heart of Sittard. The sounds of the city barely permeate the thick walls of the former Company of St. Ursula Cloister. The name 'Merici' comes from the founder of the convent order: Angela de Merici. Between 1843 and 1946 girls were schooled in the hotel's adjoining buildings. Merici is one of the seven special monuments in the Cloister Quarter.Every morning, Hotel Merici serves a delicious breakfast buffet in the former refectory with live front show cooking. A romantic picnic hamper or a practical lunch box can also be ordered on request. The hotel operates in accordance with the Green Key Label, an international hallmark. Hotel Merici strives for a healthy environment, and opts for the use of sustainable products and the employment of energy saving measures. As such, organic, fairtrade and regional products are used wherever possible. The #a la carte restaurant Wine & Dine serves heavenly dishes, and is just 75 m from the hotel. The restaurant has an intimate outdoor terrace on the atmospheric and historic market square. It is also possible to have a drink and a small bite in the hotel's lounge & bar. Sittard train station is a 10-minute walk from Hotel Merici. Roermond, Dusseldorf, Hasselt and Antwerp are also interesting cities to visit in the area.
