This hotel is located in central area and has high ratings, which from my opinion are not adequate. Hotel wants to be cosy and guests oriented. This is well supported by the stuff, but facilities are outdated. Different rooms are available in the hotel depending on the price. Some even has bath and fireplace (which didn't work). Generally size is... More

This hotel is very nice and has a really cool history. It is very affordable with large rooms and bathrooms. Groningen is such a cool town, a small college town that was smaller and more quaint than Amsterdam but still plenty to do. The staff was awesome, Barts (sp?) is such a nice guy and truly makes the hotel a... More

This small hotel is made from a old building of the army (most probably french). The downstairs room, the main room was probably the kind of soldiers headquarter, very nice room, great staff, close to the center in front of the river. Price is great too (95 euros/1 pers). Highly recommended if you want to visit University city of Groningen... More

Nice big room, but it was the staff that really make the hotel. Far enough from the centre not to be too loud, but close enough to just be short walk to the rest of town. The stairs are very steep and can be hard work when you are a bit tired or have had a few cocktails at the... More

When visiting towns and cities for a couple of days, we have come to the conclusion that you don't need to pay over the top for posh hotels, as it's the city you are visiting not the hotel! We were delighted with this little hotel, lovely old building renovated to a very good standard. We were given a warm welcome,... More

We stayed in the attic of the 1634 building. It's on a gracht (canal) in the centre of Groningen. The room was very comfortable, and the interior of the hotel is very stylish and enjoyable to be in. If we return to Groningen, we will return to the hotel. Note: There is a good parking garage just over the canal... More

Some hotels are effortlessly not looking like hotels but succeed in making you feel as if you stay with some good friends instead. Corps de Garde is a nice, lovely looking place to spend a good couple of days in Groningen. Yes, it may be noisy at times because of the wooden floors and lack of double glazing, but those... More

You enter through the restaurant and find out that the bar is the reception. You feel being in a Dutch pub or English Inn and are welcomed by friendly and hospitable staff. The owners have been gifted, being able to turn this monument into modern hotel that did not loose its historical identity. We are in Groningen and for the... More

The best feature of the hotel is the ever helpful staff, always willing to expedite requests promptly. The building itself is an historic army guard house given that in mind the rooms have been renovated to the point were they are spacious and comfortable The windows could do with some double-glazing investment as the noise from the street is loud... Recently we stayed at the hotel. We had the "balkenkamer". The room itself wasn't that impressive, but is was oke. The staff is very helpfull and polite. Breakfast is lovely with very tasty bread and buns.
