The food and service were very nice in the Grand Cafe. The ambiance is pleasant but a little stark. A great place to eat for a somewhat "simpler" but very good lunch or dinner. The separate restaurant appears more formal. Be sure to visit the garden in the back. It is one of the nicest in all of the Netherlands.

We loved staying in this charming hotel in Groningen. The hotel was wonderful and what made it extra special was the incredible service. When you arrive at the hotel, you are greeted by the manager who looks a little bit like Prince William. He was gracious and personally welcoming. We loved the outdoor dining and enjoyed some Dutch specialities like... More

First the spot, in the middle of Groningen, can't be much better, away from the business and still so close. Then the beauty of a building from the middle ages, with care and love redesigned for the current purpose. Well decorated with respect for its history. Nice size room, with beautiful view on the beautiful garden. Super friendly staff, good... More

This is our second visit to this hotel and it remains a charming and elegant retreat from the world. The staff are helpful and friendly (especially at reception) as well as professional. The breakfast buffet offers quality food with organic options and a few special treats. The seating area is just exquisite with high ceilings and many, many original features.... More

We had a great stay. The hotel was very clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. For an additional €5 we purchased breakfast, this was simple but substantial. Overall this hotel was excellent for the price, and I would staying here again.

A great location and a great old preserved building. Staff are nice and the backyard is wonderful to see but that's about it! Breakfast is very limited in choice, no business center, and worse of all no A/C! they have these fans that they claim can get the temperature 5 min lower than the outside temperature but when you visit... A truly amazing hotel, one of the best I've stayed at in Holland! Everything is excellent and nothing to say anything negative about at all. Book this hotel if you for any given reason passes by Groningen!

We stayed in a junior suite overlooking the beautiful gardens for 3 nights. As many other have said, the hotel is beautiful. The junior suite has a shower and tub up some stairs so be willing and able to mount these typical Dutch stairs. Otherwise, the breakfast was wonderful and the restaurants very good. However, what really sets the Prinsenhof... More

This hotel was as close to perfect as we experienced on our entire trip. The front desk went beyond helping with German rail strike and our travel options. The bed and sheets were amazing and the gardens behind the hotel were amazing. Our room was big and spacious and the real hair dryer was a welcome amenity.

When we passed this hotel a few years ago, when it had just opened, we promised ourselve we would stay here the next time we would visit Groningen. And we did. This tastefully restored monument in the very centre of the city (15 minutes walking from Groningen Central Station) is definitely worth a stay. We were seduced, partly by the... More
