It just popped-up, in the morning we were discussing what to do and before we knew it we were in Groningen, northern part of the Netherlands. At the Grote Markt, the city centre there was by coincidence a fancy fair, so a lot of people were there. Anyhow, the hotel is situated at this place. We didn't know what to... More

For my three night visit to Groningen I stayed at the Hotel de Doelen. The hotel is roughly 10 minutes walk from the train station and is located in the Grote Markt, which is the town square. The location is great for exploring the city as it is centrally located so you are close to most of the sight in... More

You're really in the center of the city when you stay in this hotel, rooms are clean and big. Everything is just a couple of steps away (food, drinks, shopping). Breakfast was quite poor for that price though...

Very nice and comfortable hotel. Staff very helpful during my stay at the hotel. There was one unpleasent situation - my company was paying my bill, and they charged company credit card twice, then did not answer for emails.

This hotel really is a must've been. Located at the very center of the city, many popular bars and places to go out at night or to have a bite to eat are directly next door. The hotel itself is as if you've travelled back in time to the glory days, with a restaurant looking like an old and beautiful... More

The hotel is very convenient in the centre of Groningen located on the central market area next to the Martini tower. The room I stayed in was fantastic value, a comfortable bed and a stocked mini bar! I have already made a reservation for my next trip.

This hotel has an old school atmosphere and the rooms are clean. The carpets in the rooms could do with an update as they are fraying and smell a little old. The bathrooms on the other hand are clean, spacious and luxury. Breakfast was also good.

Nothing like the pictures. You walk in and it looks fancy as... until they lead you out the back door past all the bins, through a little gate and into some old building. She wouldnt even walk us up the stairs, just stood att the bottom and pointed as if it was haunted. The first thing I noticed were the... More

I stayed here for one night on my touring holiday although I have stayed here two years ago while going to the MotoGP at nearby Assen. The hotel is located right on a large square where there is an amazing buzzy atmosphere day and night. Inside the hotel is traditional with polished wood and dark carpeting and a comfortable lounge... More

I stayed here one night and had booked the room only on the day I was arriving, so perhaps there were only a few rooms available. Still, it was a disappointment: the room was very hot and looked out on a blind wall about 2 metres from the window. There was some electrical machine outside which made a horrible noise... More
