We were expecting a typical hostel, but it was way beyond our expectations. Clean, funky furniture, clean bathrooms stocked with shampoo, towels and other things (even house slippers!). The common room had fresh fruit and a tea kitchen. The breakfast was delicious! Very helpful and friendly staff. Can definitely recommend.

very close to the centre of town but a littlebit too funky for my liking.I think its better suited for young backpackers.I felt I was spending the night at one of a student residency and was not very impressed with having to climb a outdoor iron stair to get to the room.

I stayed here for several days, so I actually had a chance to evaluate the place in many aspects. Location: It's hard to find a better location than this: on the northern part of town center, less than a 10-minute to Grote Markt, a 5-minute walk from UMCG, situated right next to a bus stop and the surrounding area has... Trendy hotel in old renovated building. Large common room with internet facilities, full kitchen, library etc. Nice touch. High ceiling in rooms, ok single bed, free wifi everywhere, great shower. Staff was lovely, first with late arrival, next morning with breakfast very accommodating, lady who served was unfazed by my special needs (no wheat and since bread is like the... More

Stayed in room 110. Understand another reviewer's opinion it's maybe not for a business stay but for a relaxed leisure visit to beautiful relaxed Groningen, Het Paleis is a good spot for a stay somewhere independent. It's near to the park and not far from the city centre. The shared living room is very high quality and pleasant. The staff,... More

I choose this hotel because it is different than your standard place and close to where I was attending a conference. I booked the art deco room on booking.com but was given I think the "constructivist" room by the hotel manager (room 110). The floor and walls are covered in construction grade wood panelling (like the panelling you would put... More

We stayed here two nights during a bike trip of the area. It was a perfect location for us - toward the northern end of the city (our trip was to the north) but very close to main shopping and eating streets. The courtyard layout provided excellent security for our bicycles. A small attached restaurant was convenient. The shared space... More

It appears that many B&B's are only offering an expensive breakfast (12.5 euros per person). This puts the onus on the traveler to find and procure breakfast. Fortunately, we found an excellent breakfast a few blocks away for only 7.5 euros per person. Our room was large and had Murphy beds. The location was pretty far from the downtown attractions.

Wonderfully decorated - each room had been designed by different artist. The rooms have this modern, minimalistic, yet chick look and they are in pristine condition. The area is very quiet, and so is the hotel. It is located about 7 min walk from the main square of the Groningen, and very close to a great park. Kitchen and lobby... More

Het Paleis in Groningen, NL, is a different place to stay and sleep, in a good way. I like it when I experience cool places or cool people, especially if I didn’t expect it. This is a treasure for people who are interested in art, design, functionality or just genuine cool stuff. My family and I booked a room at... More
