I have stayed here for business reasons, but after looking around I can say that it is highly recommended for families as well. As for the location I would say that it is central, therefore if you (like me) have to do a few things at several locations throughout the country, you just found the best location. The restaurant is... More

We stayed here with 3 kids for one night on our way to France. Large resort-like 2-story hotel, very busy, at least this ascension day weekend in May. Lot's of guests everywhere, large groups of pensioners, mixed with families, middle-aged couples, all kind of people, seems to be a spacy and very popular place. Pleasant location in the outskirts of... More

We visited this hotel twice, in 2012 and again in 2014. Like most Van der Valks, the location is not the strongest selling point, although this hotel is actually near a wood where you can walk and cycle. The people at the reception are nice, the rooms are very good (spacious and with good sized bathrooms). The town of Apeldoorn... More

My husband and i stayed here for one night. The hotel is clean, accessible and the restaurant was excellent value for money. The staff were friendly and helpful and ready to give an objective view on local attractions.

We were encouraged after our first and previous experience with a hotel of the same van der Valk to opt for another one. Also this time we were pleasantly surprised to to find a similar set up. Check in service was friendly and efficient although we had a little trouble finding the reception area mainly as a result of where... More

I stayed here recently but based on other reviews, either I have excpetionally high standards (despite being able to happily stay in everything from a tent to a penthouse) or I caught this place on an off day. I should say that I travel a lot for business so I do have a good idea of what these hotels should... More

I often stay in this hotel for business, and i keep coming back. The atmosphere is great, staff is friendly, food is tasteful and well priced. The hotel is large, i think they have about 300 rooms. Some of them are very modern, others are worn and dated. I do love their beds! The only downside is the bar, very... More

We've spend two nights at Apeldoorn; while visiting spa 'de veluwse bron' for a day. While 'de veluwse bron' was in our experiences very poor; De Cantharel surprised us with spacious rooms; excellent shower, great breakfast buffet and friendly staff. Nothing to add to that really; except for being a bit more into the details; some strange hairs where occupying... More

This is a perfect conference hotel when you want value for money. In fact all sorts of deals are offered, like the 1,25/15 minute meeting tables with coffee/ tea, strawberries and cakes all in. The staff understands what clients need, and were all very helpful and fast, except for reception at peak hours which was inefficient. We enjoyed white, spacious... More

'Van der Valk' hotels are well-known in the Netherlands. To be honest, I thought these hotels were for people with small children and their grandparents. However, during our trip to Apeldoorn's Cantharel we were pleasantly surprised. The rooms in the newer part of the hotel are very spacious and have an awesome bath-tub in the middle of the room. Usually... More
