Stayed there 3 days / 2 nights for a business trip. Hotel is mainly business oriented (due to its location) with a very friendly and professional staff. Many conference rooms, luxuriously designed entrance area with passage ways going into every direction (gives a spacious feel). Good restaurant in a very nicely designed setting, fair prices. Small but nice gym with... More

We enjoyed our weekend in this hotel very much. It is superbly located near the A28 highway, and next to a wood where one can have a nice long walk. The center of Assen is a little further, but within walking distance (about 2 km). It runs one of the better restaurants within the Van der Valk hotel chain. Breakfast... More

I stay in the Van der Valk hotel every year in February to visit relatives in the NE of the Netherlands. Through the years I have seen the hotel improve and they seem to be doing this all the time. With my last visit they had enlarged and redecorated the breakfast area very nicely. All the rooms are very spacious... More

The hotel was out of town, but this suited my needs as I was visiting family in the area, if you want to experience Assen on foot from the hotel - be prepared to cycle or walk. I found the staff extremely attentive and all spoke very good English. My best experience of the stay was the restaurant for breakfast... More

Stayed at the Hotel Van Der Valk recently on a business trip. Was a bit hesitant about the hotel because of it's location. It is a 30 euro taxi ride to the centre of Rotterdam, however was pleasently surprised when I arrived. The lobby is large and quite buzzy with a nice residents bar. Check in was quick. The room... hotel was well maintained and the staff nice. Only complaint was that the Internet was the worst we had ever experienced. All our group suffered. It was charged extra that was even more annoying given how poor it was. Ruined an otherwise great stay as had important files to download etc for work. More

We stayed here for 5 nights in early August 2010. The family-owned Van der Valk hotel chain has grown to probably the biggest middle class hotel chain in Holland and is famous for its good price-quality ratio. Hotel Van der Valk Assen was no exception to this rule. It is a mixture of business and family hotel. The hotel rooms... More

Just came back from out annual family trip here, and very pleased with this hotel. We had some recently updated deluxe rooms, which were spacious enough for an extra bed for the kids. the van der Valk hotels and restaurants are a family operated chain of large middle-class hotels, aimed at both business and family travellers. They have generally managed... More

Hotel Assen is located a few miles (5 min by car) from the city center. There is nothing around the hotel so if you don't have a car, you are stuck in the hotel, unless you can spend about 9 euro to get to the city center. The hotel has big restaurant/banquet, bar and quite a few meeting rooms, so... More

We stayed for just one night in this hotel. Service was very friendly at reception. Finding our rooms was a bit of a puzzle due to reconstructions of the hotel. Room was very clean and spacious. Breakfast is selfservice buffet with plenty of things to eat. More
