Four women friends on a 24-day trip through Germany, Italy, and Switzerland..and after our 8-hour trip on the Glacier Express, we disembarked from the train in Zermatt..and began searching for Hotel Astoria. Halfway there, dragging our luggage (which had mysteriously expanded after every stop!), I looked up and fairly shrieked, GUARDA! IL MATTERHORN!) (I was still in Italian-mode!) It was... More

We stayed at the Astoria in Jan / Feb 2014 with a large ski group that took over the whole hotel. The rooms were really clean and nice but with minimal bells and whistles, but they were very nice. We scored big time by getting room 106 since I heard from many others that the noise from the bar /... More

I visited Zermatt March 2014 with a group of 28 members of a ski club (12 of whom ski) Not all the 18 or so rooms are the same but my double room 205 was fabulous! It was roomy, and this hotel was selected partly because each person may have skis, boots, suitcases, and two to a room, so spacious... More

Sat 11th - Sat 18th January 2014. We have just returned from our most enjoyable ski holiday to date. Room no. 306 at the Hotel Astoria. We too had a very friendly welcome, excellent actually. Breakfast was delightful, plentiful and fresh. Our set evening meal was something to look forward to after a day on the slopes, thanks to Pedro... More

The Astoria, as many of the hotels in Zermatt, is what looks like an oversize Swiss chalet and exactly the type of place you would want to stay. We were met at the train station by the little electric car, helped with our bags and then whisked to reception where we had an incredibly warm greeting. We had two rooms... More

We stayed here with our group of 25 brazilians during our roundtrip in Switzerland in September. Here we met the real Switzerland atmosphere with a warm professionalism and a helpfullness of all the staff during our 2 nights stay. The personell was very efficient and attentive and did all to make us feel best cared. Even leaving very early they... More

The hotel itself is fine - spacious rooms, central location, everything working. Attentive staff, reasonable breakfast. But there are 2 things which you should consider before going there. First is that due to central location, there is an open terrace bar in front of the hotel and it is quite noisy till late in the night. In the morning there... More

Staff was absolutely top class, very helpful and knew all about town and mountains. They really worked hard to maintain the high Booking.com rating. Room was nice, big, clean – and with Matterhorn view!

Astoria is well located in zermatt. 2 mn away from the main street. 7 minutes walk from sunegga ski lift. Also close to good restaurant and lively bar. A big advantage of astoria is that the family rooms are very large and can accomodate the parents and two kids, and so for a relatively affordable price. The rooms are well... More
