We travelled to Zermatt with our 40 person ski group from Massachusetts, staying at the Hotel Astoria for a week in February. Our room #205 was wonderful! The owner and management personnel were exceedingly helpful, patient with all our requests for information and directions. The food was great thanks to the Astoria's engaging and talented chef. Maciek and Zora were... More

I just returned from 7 nights at the Astoria, run and owned by Mark who was personable, engaged, even funny. We had a group of over 40 that filled the hotel. The double rooms are large, even by American standards and the single, which I stayed in, was quite small, even by European standards. Still it was clean and comfortable... More

This is a great hotel in Zermatt!! The owner and staff are very kind and helpful. The chef did an excellent job, the food was very good. The room are a good size and the bathroom are good and they have hairdryers that are good to use so you do not have to take your own from home. The hotel... More

We stayed a week with a group that had the entire hotel rented. We stayed in a front facing first floor room. The hotel is well situated in Zermatt, only being a short walk from the hotel to the Main Street, train stations and nightlife. Breakfast and dinner were included, which is a HUGE savings. Breakfasts were what I would... More

We stayed a week at Hotel Astoria enjoying a large third floor room. We ate both breakfast and dinner at the hotel each day as part of a package deal. We were part of a group and it saved us a ton of money because meals in Zermatt can be very expensive. The breakfast is fairly typical European with meats... More

I stayed at Hotel Astoria (Zermatt) Nov 2014. The hotel is well situated in the small town of Zermatt, known for the close proximity to the Matterhorn and other mountains. The hotel is well situated in this small town and offers the standard amenities of a hotel. The room was rather large but somewhat stale. It did have a balcony... More

its a quaint little hotel a little out of where all the hustle bustle is...the advantage is that it is more peaceful and the disadvantage is that it gets a little spooky when returning late to this hotel...the staff is friendly ..the reception is minimal...the rooms are nice and cosy...the breakfast is usually nice...zermatt town is great little place ..

Four women friends on a 24-day trip through Germany, Italy, and Switzerland..and after our 8-hour trip on the Glacier Express, we disembarked from the train in Zermatt..and began searching for Hotel Astoria. Halfway there, dragging our luggage (which had mysteriously expanded after every stop!), I looked up and fairly shrieked, GUARDA! IL MATTERHORN!) (I was still in Italian-mode!) It was... More

We stayed at the Astoria in Jan / Feb 2014 with a large ski group that took over the whole hotel. The rooms were really clean and nice but with minimal bells and whistles, but they were very nice. We scored big time by getting room 106 since I heard from many others that the noise from the bar /... More
