We recently stayed here for 1 week mid-Feb (peak season) then 1 week at Hotel Matterhorn Focus (see separate review). Firstly as others have said the location right next to the Matterhorn Express Gondola is perfect. Views of the Matterhorn are great. We were on half-board (breakfast and dinner) - the breakfast was very good to excellent and included made... more

I travel to Zermatt every year with my father, i have stayed in 7 hotels in Zermatt and he has stayed in many more. We chose this hotel primarily for its proximity to the gondola, saving a long walk or expensive taxi ride every morning and afternoon after skiing, in this sense it is very close to the lift and... more

The scenery here was unbelievable, but we stayed there in the "off peak" season. A lot of the shops and resturants were either closed or had shorter hours. The hotel was not very accomodating. We arrived early, but were unable to check in until just after check-in time, even though almost all the rooms were available. The hotel resturant had... more

Stayed at antares as booked last minute trip having heard nothing about the hotel -- extremely happy with our choice. Great value. Swiss hospitality defined. Staff and owners are first rate in every respect. The warmth can be felt upon arrival and was sustained throughout our stay. Our room and outdoor terrace faced the mighty matterhorn with afternoon sun before... more

We stayed at the Hotel Antares over Christmas and booked it based on its location. It turned out to be the most fantastic choice. The hotel has undergone total bathroom renovations and the bedroom was beautiful. Our balcony looked straight out to the Matterhorn which was a sight to behold at all times of day. There are several wonderful things... more

Can't beat the location, right down the street from the gondola. Had a great view of the Matterhorn and helpful staff, especially when my wife had to be shipped by helicopter to the local hospital after a snowboard accident. The room was pretty cozy, not much room to walk around, and the queen was 2 twins put together, but comfortable... more

I have wanted to visit Zermatt but always decided against it because of the disjointed ski area but now that all 3 areas are linked we decided to take the plunge. LOCATION We chose the Antares primarily because of its location. It turned out to be an excellent choice. Its terrace is a snowball throw (with a tailwind) from the... more

We booked a package deal through Thomson to stay in this hotel. We enjoy good food and see it as much as part of the holiday as the rest of the package, which was one of the reasons we chose this hotel having seen previous reviews. However we thought the food, whilst good quality and very well presented, was not... more

An excellent place to stay in the summer. A bit far out of the village, but I'd much rather avoid the village, which is a bit too up market, and a bit too busy for me. Food excellent, quallity not quantity. This was the first of a two centre stay, in the second we got quantity but not quality, the... more

Amazing place with heavenly food of a five star restaurant!. We were in Zermatt staying at Hotel Antares from Dec 23-Jan 4th. We are originally from US, New York now living in London - and were very spoiled by various hotels. we wanted to stay close to the lift so we chose Antares, plus other hotels did not have the... more
