We stayed at the Monte Rosa hotel for 2 nights, during our Glacier Express journey. What a delightful hotel! The Monte Rosa is a small historic hotel at the centre of the old town. It's still owned and run by the same family after 5 generations, and the staff go out of their way to offer friendly and efficient service... More

My wife Cherry Oberoi and I recently stayed at the Monte Rosa in Zermatt and this was our second visit ! While Zermatt is one of the most beautiful mountain destinations in the world our stay would not have been more complete without the hospitality of the staff , from the taxi pick up at the railway station to the... Wonderful stay in Zermatt in part to the Monte Rosa hotel and especially the staff. In over 50 years of travel I can't think of one hotel that matches the staff here. Room was good size and comfortable. The hotel offers a quaint atmosphere, modern amenities for the diverse clientele and very clean. Breakfast also offer a nice variety for... More

Rooms are spacious and elegantly decorated, non-alcoholic drinks are included in the room rate - a very welcoming treat after a challenging day walk. All staff are very friendly and spot on with service, particularly a special thanks to the charming hotel manager. Restaurant served a good fulfilling meal, breakfast was very substantial in a beautiful dining room. A short... More

Fantastic property in the middle of the little Zermatt village. Elegant rooms. Good sized, too. And well appointed. Staff is quite helpful and nice, especially the front desk staff. Breakfast was excellent. Like really good! We had a room with a little balcony on 4th floor, facing the little square and the church. Both of which created its own fare... More

My husband & I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful, centrally located and historical hotel. It is from this hotel that Edward Whimper took off to on his attempted to summit the Matterhorn. We were upgraded to a junior suite on the 5th floor with views of the Matterhorn from the balcony on the side and the main street.... More

Loved our stay at the Monte Rosa. Rooms were large and nicely decorated. We has a 5th floor room facing the main street in town and a side view of the Matterhorn. Couldn't have asked for a better location. Staff was fabulous. We booked a last minute helicopter tour which the concierge coordinated for us. He then drove us to... More

Hotel Monte Rosa is a historical hotel. Alexander Seiler took over a wooden chalet in 1853. As a regular lodging for climbers, the Monte Rosa became the cradle of the Alpinism. It is from here that Edward Whymper, since 1860 a regular guest at the hotel, set out on 13 July 1865 for the summit of the Matterhorn. His ascent... More

The Monte Rosa, from which Edward Whimper set out to conquer the Matterhorn in 1865, isa centrally located almost opposite the church, and its rooms can be magnificent. The suite on the top floor, to which we were fortunate enough to be upgraded, is not only large but tastefully furnished and decorated, with a bathroom to die for, including a... More

The Seiler Hotel Monte Rosa is the original and oldest Zermatt guest establishment, having been built by Alexander Seiler on the site of a small, rustic Zermatt domicile in 1853. Today, as a 4-star accommodation in the grand old European manner, it is known to many who understand and appreciate mountaineering as the 'home of Alpine climbing' in the Swiss... More
