We have reviewed this hotel before and described it as Paradise. This visit was very different as we transitioned from a personal experience to one that was a truly family occasion including grandchildren. While we knew that there were facilities for children including outside playground and inside play room, this was the first time we saw it from the child's... More

Get out of the tourist traps of Tasch and Zermatt and go to Riffelalp. This hotel is right at the base of the imposing Matterhorn and offers amazing views and a great launching point for hiking and other outdoor activities. Although it takes some effort to get there, do it! The two on-site restaurants are excellent and truly authentic.

We just spent 3 nights at the wonderful Riffelalp resort. Without asking, we were upgraded to a junior suite with a view of the Matterhorn from our large veranda and bedroom. The room was superior. The entire hotel was rustic elegance. It was great to have an indoor and outdoor spa pool after days of hiking and exploring. The buffet... More

Zermatt was our last stop of our hiking trip through Switzerland and I must say that getting off the train and strolling through the city was disappointing given how touristy it seemed, until we boarded the train to our Hotel Riffelalp! What a gem! We walked from the train to the resort and were greeted by the Matterhorn in all... More

We found this place while hiking. We just took coffee at cafe to wait rain stopped. The coffee was very good. From the place, we walked down to Zermatt. It took 2 hours, enjoying landscape.

I have stayed at the Riffelalp resort twice and it is just a magnificent place to stay. Zermatt is beautiful but up here you are away from the hustle and bustle of the town and the views are even better, hard to believe. Easily reached after (and paid for by the hotel) a beautiful 20 minutes rack railway ride on... More

We stayed at the Riffelalp for a week in early March with our adult son and 14 year old grandson. This was our second stay. Expensive but worth every penny. It is a magical spot. Being able to ski in and out was perfect for our grandson who learned his way around the mountains very quickly and hence was able... More

This was our second stay at Riffelalp, unfortunately the service was nowhere near as good as the previous year. Not sure that it merits the 5* accolade, Some of the very basic elements were lacking and new and (very) inexperienced staff disappointed. The Al Bosco restaurant experience was a particular low point, appalling service and food not a patch on... More

We come here every year since 11 years for a week of skiing. Everything is first class at this hotel: the location, the rooms, the service, the cuisine, the wellness with outside pool, etc. It is five stars! It is up the mountain and you will. Ski-in and Ski-out directly at the hotel.

This has been our third winter vacation at Riffelalp. You can read my previous reviews about the hotel. Nothing has changed because there is nothing to improve. The well trained staff, the sensation of owners taking care of things, the swiss perfection of every detail, the superb food in its 3 restaurants, the beautifull spa, the convenience of a private...
