We had the best time while in Zermatt. We were welcomed by friendly, courteous and attentive staff every time we walked in the door. We got to stay on the 4th floor facing the Matterhorn and it was amazing. The weather was perfect and we even got to take the Matterhorn express all the way to the top. Thank you!

We were 2 adults and one child staying 3 nights in a triple room while on a skiing weekend. The room was large and clean, with a spacious terrasse/balcony holding a table and chairs. There was a double bed (2 single beds put together) and a sofa bed for Junior. The bathroom was no-frills but clean. I had read that... More

This hotel is managed by a very friendly couple and a very professional team who will pick you up at the station. They will do everything to make you enjoy your stay. The food is awesome although the five course dinner is too much!! I never ate that much. I've been there twice, the first time during the winter peak... More

We just returned from Zermatt and had a wonderful and memorable time. We stayed at the Hotel Holiday and found that the staff was extremely pleasant, accommodating, and helpful. The breakfast fare was very good, internet was free, and tap water was just fine. I would recommend this hotel without reservation. Remember, Zermatt is expensive, just like Aspen or Vail.

The service was quite good, the vacation was great. They've really worked on the exorbitant prices and it's better than some of the negative reviews. The internet no longer costs money, and they'll provide water for free.

If I was in a different mood probably I can say that was one of the worst experiences I had with hotels. As much as Zermatt is a phenomenal place that hotel I am sure can compete for the prize "worst hotel in Zermatt". Starting from the arrival when I got a phonecall from the owner to ask us when... Shocking! They disallow even water at dinner unless you buy a bottle from them. Some at dinner is by the bottle, unless you go to the bar, order it & carry it downstairs to dinner. Everything is an extra charge. It adds up. And not all hotels in Zermstt are this ridiculous. BIG issue: they will pick you up at... More

Q: Do you know when I last paid for wifi internet in a hotel? A: Never! This is what I wanted to say to the lady sitting at the reception in the hotel. 5 CHF for 24 hrs for access to just 1 device. Which age do they live in? So, if we had a laptop, a couple of smartphones,... More

Whilst the ambiance could be improved upon, lighting a little too bright service a little too brusque and predominantly hotel guests in the restaurant, the quality of the food and presentation of the dishes makes this restaurant a cut above the norm. The chef and his wife were charming and very friendly and the fact that the chef has worked... More

Seriously...a franc per 5 minutes? In 2013? This was the most expensive hotel of the trip and after fantastic travel day on Glacier Express, tired, hungry, wishing for news and email...Internet sucks!! Asked several others and this far from routine here. Go elsewhere

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Hotel Holiday is situated in a quiet place, 8 minutes' walk from Zermatt's centre and only 200 metres from the Sunnegga Express, taking you to the Sunnegga, Blauherd and Rothorn mountains. The ski slope from the Sunnegga down to Zermatt brings you right to the Holiday hotel. The Gornergrat train station and the bus stop to the Klein Matterhorn are as well easily reachable on foot. Our hotel has 36 non-smoking double or family rooms on four floors, with elevator access. Our family rooms have three or four beds, and some have connecting doors. Each room offers modern facilities in a warm and bright setting and has access to a balcony. Most of the rooms have a beautiful mountain view. Our restaurant, <>, allows you to enjoy dishes prepared by our chef, Denis Matray, a former student of Paul Bocuse. Our cuisine distinguishes itself by its use of high quality seasonal products. After a peaceful night's sleep, our generous breakfast buffet will set you off on a good foot for the day. You may select our half-board menu or give in to the temptations of our a la carte menu. You will also appreciate the cosy and chic atmosphere of our lounge-bar. ... more   less
