We were hiking from inn to inn in the Alps. Riffelberg was one of our overnight stops. We hadn't understood that it is actually a huge ski lodge. We enjoyed our time even though we had wanted a mountain inn. The room was cozy with a view of the Matterhorn and the food was quite good.

The beauty of the Riffelberg is the historic house that makes your stay just so much more cozy than a random modern hotel. The other beauty is of course the ski in - ski out. Unfortunately if you don't have ski passes for arrival and leave day, you have to pay an extra return ticket with the train which isn't... More

My wife and I have been to this restaurant many times over the last 25 years and had been happy with the service. On this last occasion I joined my wife at the outdoor terrace restaurant about 15 minutes after she arrived and I then had to wait about 15 minutes before I could raise any service. There were about... More

Stayed in this hotel for one night after a 8.5 hour hike. We were exhausted and simply wanted food, wine, and a comfortable bed. We got it all... in fact, the food exceeded my expectations (and was included in the price of the hotel), the wine was affordable and fantastic, excellent service, and very comfortable rooms. To top it off,... More

Unfortunately I did not book in this hotel (still preserved in the Swiss style). The restaurant has an authentic Swiss cuisine (exemplary service by Mike and his colleagues). The view on the terrace is great-everything you need for a perfect ski holiday. Two thumbs up!

Spent five nights in August at the Hotel Riffelberg above Zermatt; a wonderful base for many different hikes, comfortable hotel with very good kitchen -- took half pension and loved the dinners. Very friendly management: when I wanted to leave for one night at an Alpine hut, they let me keep my stuff in the room without charging me for... More

I followed Trip-Advisor guest recommendation and planned my 2 nights at Riffelberg. The description met my requirements, but I was apprehensive till I reached there. It was exactly what I wanted. Secluded, quiet, spendid view of Matterhorn. To top it, the staff were friendly, place was serene as it was off-season in Sept. And I was surprised to note that... More

We were fortunate enough to have spent 3 days at the hotel. It was a period of relaxation for us after a week of hectic touring and nothing could have been better than lying in bed and watch the clouds play around the Matterhorn. The Matterhorn changed every minute - it was interesting to watch all this from the comfort... More

A few days at Hotel Riffelberg will recharge your batteries and zest for life. Perched at 2,600 metres above sea level, and yet only a 15 min ride on a cog railway from the sleepy town of Zermatt down in the valley, you will be bowled over by the beauty of the mountains on all sides. The hotel, which featured... More

Great location. One of few ski-in / ski-out hotels in Zermatt. Incredible view over Matterhorn. A bit remote from the city, but it's more an advantage if you come for skiing
