We actually stopped here for lunch on our hike around the 5 lakes. The hike was amazing, but this little lodge was so cool. Our food came on glass plates with a powder sugar picture of the Matterhorn. I would suggest everyone stop here and have something. The girls were so outgoing and friendly.

Great location with friendly staff and excellent food. This is not very busy and great for a stopover for lunch while skiing. I could imagine it is also great place to spend a couple of days in summer.

I will give you MORE THAN ENOUGH reasons not to choose this place by any means: 1- There is one big dormitory room for at least 24 people (I remember counting at least eight three-level bunks). However, there is ONLY ONE TOILET and ONLY ONE SHOWER for each gender. One toilet and one shower for 24 people? That's ridiculous! When... More

Beautiful place and great food (good rosti). Usually nice and quiet. Its not the easiest to get to (which I guess is why its usually quiet) but I always make a point of visiting when in cervinia/Zermatt

We skied down from Hohtilli to Gant on a lovely red run and came across the Grunsee where we decided to have lunch. It was packed but we soon got a table beside some interesting Russians. We had good pasta and excellent Rosti followed by coffee. As it was cold we ate indoors. It was good to be in a... More

We were hiking the 5 lakes and decided to step by this restaurant. After waiting for 25 minutes (only 2 other tables were sitting) and being seen a few times by the waitress and being ignored we decided to leave... Unfortunately we can't say anything about the food but the service was enough for us!!! We wouldn't recommend it

We stopped here on the hike from Riffelalp to Sunnega - knackered we were - and what a great pitstop it was. Excellent coffee and mouthwatering apfelstrudel in vanilla sauce. Highly recommended to weary hikers.

After a 2 hours hike from Zermatt one can find this fantastic place in the middle of the mountains. Once you are at this place, the friendly service and great food makes the challenging hike all worth while!! You can have a cozy, clean room overlooking the Matterhorn with a half pension that includes a fantastic breakfast and dinner. If... More

For years we do ski on the slopes of zermatt and we often did spend a few hours to warm up near the open fire at restaurant grunsee. nice food and nice service in a cosy alpine hut with dark beams on the ceiling and pictures reminding of an urban life in the alps. Now we had the time to... More
