After reviewing all reports on where to stay for my one night in Zermatt, I choose the Zermatterhof despite one bad review. I have to say I was not disappointed. From the pick up at the train station, to the fabulous view, gracious staff, nice bar and terrific spa, it met or exceeded my expectations. Pricey but worth it and... more

Compared Top Hotels in Austria or Switzerland such as the Post in Lech or the Tschuggen in Arosa, this hotel does not match the level of its peers. We were very surprised to encounter a hotel which did not seem to invest in upgrades (very old rooms and bathrooms). We were shocked to see metal tables in the main dining... more

This old-school and timeless beauty of a Hotel stands serene in the midst of the glorious town of Zermatt in the the swiss alps. My partner and I were lucky enough to be staying for 5 x nights in the Zermatterhof on a half board basis. The staff were so welcoming and attentive during our stay we were made to... more

Although Zermatt is charming-this hotel is anything but charming. The staff, especially in the dining room, are rude. The rooms are dark and dingy. They advertise that the rooms have been renovated- DON'T believe them! Overall value for this stay was POOR! You can't say you haven't been warned. more

Grand was absolutely grand! Our suite had a balcony that faced the Matterhorn, it was gorgeous! Definitely recommend this place if you can afford it. Staff were friendly, our rate include the buffet breakfast which had many options. Zermat is a very touristy place but there's much sightseeing and sport activities to do. We would definitely go back. Jr. Suite... more

We stayed in a deluxe double room for a weeks skiing in April.Even with an extra bed for our son the room was still spacious, and was kept spotless. There was a very nice piano bar with live music every night. The food was very good, certainly five star but a bit fancy for the younger ones. The kids menu was basically all... more

My husband and I made a reservation at the Zermatterhof in January 2007 for a room in March 2008. (Yes, nearly one year in advance). In order to do so we had to give our credit card to hold the booking. Shortly afterward in February 2007, we changed our minds and decided to stay at the Monte Cervin instead. We... more

This hotel is one of the best in the world. As good as the Waldorf in New York and much better service. While the Swiss are generally very formal, once you ask a question or inquire of some information they become very helpful and nice. The Concierge remembered me from my first visit and went out of his way to... more

First impression is a bit stiff; formal attitudes and traditional decor had us wondering. A few hours later, though, it was very much a family-vibe in the grand hotel. The food is great, the pool and spa also great, the rooms can differ quite a bit though: our junior suite in the new wing felt nicer than the medium suite... more
