Just returned from a weeks holiday there. We had a super room overlooking the lake and Monte San Salvatore. The reception staff we found very helpful, particularly in sorting the return luggage service through SBB/FFS. I have never come across such unhelpful and unapproachable reception staff, in particular the senior receptionist. A request for an extra pillow was greeted with a surly demand for an explanation as to why my wife and I needed such a thing. lousy hotel experience. booked directly over the phone and their hotel reservations misquoted the room rate by 200CHF!! Hotel management chose not to honour the rate quoted when we made the reservation and made us feel like we were at fault. Well, we love Lugano and always stay at the Hotel de la Paix. We do like the terrace and it is great if you have a room with a balcony overlooking the lake. Location is good and the bar is actually quite nice and old fashioned with a certain charme. Staff always friendly, really nice. more
