This is by no means a business hotel, if that's what you need (I know, Lugano plus business sounds a bit mad), but we ended up trying to work in a corridor. The corridors themselves are a bit down in the dumps, all pink scuffed paint. My room was overheated and overlooking a busy main road, so no chance of opening the windows. The plug didn't work in the sink, but they fixed it pretty quickly.
There were plus points - one of the receptionists was very good, and the Italian restaurant (all red and white checked table cloths like it used to be in the seventies), was excellent and good value.
We checked out the next morning to somewhere a bit more accommodating. It is quite a long walk to Lugano from the hotel and even though the lake is at the bottom of the road, it's a busy old road to cross.
