The key to the quality of experience at this hotel is where your room is; if it is in the main part, which is old and traditional, I think you would love it, but if you have a room in the annexe, you might think differently. Our room was in the annexe, and suffered the following flaws: the shower was... more

I stayed here for two nights in April this year, and felt the hotel has many good points. The staff are really friendly, the rooms are very traditional and quaint with lots of wood, and lovely soft beds, the food in the restaurant was a little pricey but overall excellent quality. The only downside for me was the building, being... more

Just returned from a Great Rail Journey which included a 4 night stay at the hotel. We were lucky enough to get the flower balcony room at the front and it was perfect in every way. Clean, quiet, very comfortable and attactive decor. The food was great and the friendly staff wore traditional costume. more

My partner has already posted a review below, so it may seem a bit unfair to post another negative review. But, as we had booked a double room and were given two single beds I feel it's fair that we can post two single reviews. BAD POINTS (in no particular order) 1. Sliding doors adjacent to next (corner) room were... more

This may be a wonderful hotel if you are booking on a group trip but as an expedia booker you certainly get the short straw... This is the worst hotel room I have ever stayed in my entire life. When we entered we thought we had stepped into a youth hostel, We had booked a double room and what we... more

We were in this Hotel in Sept 2007 on The Great Rail Journeys Glacier Express Tour. We found this hotel excellent and the staff very friendly. The room we stayed in overlooked the clock and the size was fine. The clock goes silent about 9 or 10 so it doesn`t disturb you with the chimes.Food was fine and as I am... more

This historic, old hotel is very near the fantastic architecture of the old town. Sorry, but that is the end of the good points as far as our stay at this hotel are concerned, The room was small for a double, barely enough room to walk around the bed and you had to do a shuffle with the door hitting... more

Many thanks for the review and thank you for taking the time and trouble to write. Indeed and I can recognize from the fotos that you have been allocated the very smallest room of our 300 year hotel and apologise for that. Naturally our rooms tend to be on the small size, this due to the age of the property...

I had previously booked a single in this hotel, but after a bout of sleeplessness, I wanted to change to a double room. No problem at all, for a few francs more, the understanding girl behind the reception provided me with a very spacious alternative: Swiss service at its best. I felt at home. CME more

Hotel Stern is a wonderful experience. I arrived at the hotel after a failed reservation at the Hotel Drei Konige (this hotel closes at 11.00 pm and nobody answer or the telephone or the doorbell). Hotel Stern allowed me to stay after arriving at midnight without reservation. The single room is wide and very clean. Many elements of the room... more
