I've never found a hotel quite like this one - a wonderful welcome from the staff who will come and collect you and your luggage from the station, personal greeting from the owners, excellent accommodation albeit the hotel isn't the prettiest from outside - pink's not my colour! This hotel is the like a swiss watch, or a Victorinox armyknife: there is more to explore you expect: the accomodation for relaxing,swimming pool(in inox) sauna etc gives you that extra in top of very good food, a top location a few steps away from the First Bahn and Jungfraubahn. We have been to Grindelwald 3 times over the last 20 years and have just booked again for summer 2007, as it is just a wonderful location for walking in stunning mountain scenery. Excellent staff who were always helpful and accomodating- great food and ambience. We had a family room with large balconies and a breathtaking view of the Eiger. Would definitely return and loved the fact we could walk out the back door to the main lifts to go to First skiing slopes - great! more

The description on this website is that the Parkhotel Schoenegg is a chalet-style hotel. It was not my idea of chalet-style as the building is long, modern and rather ugly. The staff are very friendly but the five course dinner is not worth the high price. Lots of it but it tastes mass-produced. Breakfasts are very good. Excellent views from... more
